You mean the green barriers? You need an opening stone for those. The spiders have it, but to get it from them, you have to ask someone else below the Library...

Depends how many you delete. If you delete the dead person from a 4 person party, yes you'll only play with 3 people. The character editor will let you 'restore' their health points, and bring them back to life though if you dont want to lose one.

OK, just finished...alright if you like fighting a lot...there were some annoying glitches...the first tower, after beating the Zombie Dragon, who the heck was I supposed to be talking to? Myself? There was noone else there.
And Getting back to the beginning. Highly annoying having to travel back to where I was, through all the empty towers, walls and bridges.
Still, with a few tweaks, it could be good.
