It was, in the beta, possible to kill Putidus without lying, even to Putidus' guards (although at least one party member pretty much had to die), but the scenario continued on as if you had lied. Kel decided to make Putidus invulnerable in the final version because, let's face it, unqualified success for the party is not the point of this scenario. What is the word needed to pass the letter-covered floor? Found it. ;) [ Sunday, April 03, 2005 21:37: Message edited by: VCH ] -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

The thing that Putidus likes to be called. Check the book in the north to figure it out. Note also (if you have the most recent version) that the Latin alphabet circa the 2nd century used I's in place of J's and (more importantly) V's in place of U's. EDIT: Yeah. I am so stuck in the statue-battle. I don't have anymore potions left. I can kill one, but they other summons up shaman of some sort that roast me. What is the item number for strength potions any way? -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

If you have any pila left, you should be able to take them down -- just distribute them to everyone and start hurling. But the item number for Strength Potions is 447 in this scenario. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Thanks. I know I should have stocked up on more potions, but alas. BTW there's an item list for BOA somewhere right? -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

In the Cookbook -- but beware, those are only the default items, and they can change from scenario to scenario. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Kelandon, I think I'm having a problem with the final scenes. After Fastulus comes in to attack Putidus everything is black. I can see nothing except the rays from the final magical attack of Fastulus. Is it supposed to be totally black? Oh and earlier on before the blackness is my group supposed to be dead and yet able to still talk to Putidus? -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Hoookay, you've done something weird. How and why did your group die? Did you, perchance, commit crimes in the castle? Well I killed the guards that wouldn't let me in to kill Putidus. Maybe that's the whole problem? I did get a message saying that the gods will punish me in some way, whatever that meant. -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

Ah. Heh. You just have to lie to the guards in order to get past them. You didn't have to kill them. That's the problem. You can't kill Putidus if you've committed crimes in the castle. You can still win (sort of) by just walking out. There is a bug here, which is easy to fix (the scenario should kill you and stop right there, instead of continuing). I'll fix it for the next version, which I'll release with this fix and whatever else comes up between now and, say, Saturday. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Cool. I though it was a bit weird talking with Putidus even though my group was dead. Yeah powers of the dead! ;) -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

OK, I stole the food in town and angered Putidus. Now, when I get to the castle he kills me. Is there any way to placate his anger or do I have to replay the entire scenario (I know, I should have a save file but I overwrote it later on). -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." Your actions have consequences here. Committing crimes leads to death. You have to start over. (Unless you want to use the character editor to set flag (250,3) back to zero.) -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. As I suspected. Oh well, it's just time. Although in the big picture I took the bread after the town was destroyed, thus the "owners" cannot reclaim possession. Unless you are making the statement that the bread belongs to Puditus, who by destroying the town seems to have cast away his title to the possessions. And, without a caretaker, the bread and bacon would either be eaten by wolves/bears/predators invading the town or spoil. So, I did nothing morally wrong. Now that I'm justified I think I will edit myself to innocence (although to be fair I will discard the bread and meat). -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." You stole Collatinus's bread? While he was lying right there in front of you? That's pretty cold, man. :( -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! Yeah well, I tried to heal him. The GAME DESIGNER didn't include that feature OR THE ABILITY TO TAKE HIM TO SAFETY. I couldn't even drag him to his bread. Another thought (and this is really cold). If I kill him first then take the bread it isn't really stealing. And this should please Puditus since I am just finishing off what he failed to do. Plus, Collanitus has nothing to live for, thus should be looking for death (right to die, active euthanasia) -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." You're trying to kill him yourself? You're not supposed to do that. After escaping from prison, find Faustulus in the castle and enlist his help. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Search the castle carefully; specifically, check out the southwest corner of the first floor. You'll find some interesting information which will then allow you to advance the plot. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
