I guess it was deleted, but who am I to know? How long ago did this happen, by the way, and was it on this (ie. the ubb) board? If it's here, and it was not deleted, I'd like to see it too. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. Zephyr, you never did the kind of spamming Motrax did in the avatar topic. You posted useless things on occasion, but you didn't flood any topic in order to get it closed; so it's understandable you only got canned. Oh, and I can sort of understand the ban for Motrax, but TM? TM was very sarcastic, and maybe tactless to ignore repeated requests - apart from SMoE's flooding - to stop the topic, but did he go against the CoC? Or was it something in another topic that I didn't see? But I guess that's none of my business. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. I don't think so; this is basically supposed to be an ad for a spidweb related page. In order for lots of people to read it, it ought to be in General. But it's up to the mods to decide... Which proves once again that a team that plays chess can only lose. Your (stranger's) side, while you were a team, spent some time correcting each others moves until stranger took over completely - example: 9. Qf3 Nxd4 10. Qd3 Bc5 practically moving the Queen somewhere in two moves where one move would have sufficed. What really pissed me however, was that Sullust - as far as I could see without reason - moved the queen to where it got slaughtered by the bishop... Anyways, I'm a bit humbled concerning chess now: I registered at Yahoo, went to the beginner's chess area and was slaughtered three times in a row in less than 20 moves each... To avoid any confusion now, I have to point out that Nazgul and I moved at the same time. However, we chose to make the same move (which is hardly coincidental considering that there were two possible moves. So it doesn't really matter which of our moves counted. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. Well, concerning BoE, Jeff doesn't allow us to make commercial scenarios. I don't know about BoA. And it's not possible to make scenarios which can be played without the BoA game, ie. separate programs which use the engine, but not the interface. There are some good game maker sites linked in some thread in this board, I think it's in General, you practically can't miss it. With those programs, it's possible to design separate program files, but afaik, it requires good programming skills. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! We're nearly checkmate, with two possible moves remaining for the king. Nazgul, you should have taken his knight last time, as I originally planned to do before deciding to see if you came up with anything better. code: . . b . k . . r . . . . . . . p r . p . n Q p B p p b . . . . . . . . . Sorry for basically usurping this game, but I have a strategy I'd like to try out, especially since stranger seems to me to be good enough to kick butts of us all simultaneously. code: . . b . . . . r . . n . . k . p r . p . . n p B p p b . . . . . . . . . . . . Lt Sullust, that could almost qualify as an attempt of sabotage, but I'll accept that you didn't examine the board closely enough to see the bishop. code: . . b . . . . r . . . . . k p p r . p . n n . . p p b . . . . . . . Wow. Cool. :) And the page design for the tutorials is wonderful as well. Though I'm a bit confused about the scimitar theme: How does that connect to the graphics? :P Btw, does the the full list load as slowly for everyone else, or is it just my PC. It basically freezes for about a minute when loading the page. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. There is a situation where the move stranger made is legal, if my poor knowledge of chess serves. I think it had some French name; 'en passer'? Anyway, I thought that move was, like the one where you swap king and castle around (don't remember the English word for that), a special move and only allowed early in the game. Maybe, however, stranger is a professional and knows what he's doing. I have no idea if the move was legal in that case, but I know there is such a move. Edit: More than an hour late! Just goes to show how hard this kind of thing is . Read this post after Custer's. ----- He (Sir Motrax) could have politely mentioned that the topic is offensive to him, and that it should be removed. It most likely wouldn't have been, but I think that it would not have degraded into the flame war that ensued. The 'more-trash' post was made after seeing Motrax totally posting a topic to smithereens; I didn't really read through the rest, or I might have noticed that Motrax was a bit unstable (or desparate) at the moment. The name pun was the result of a moment of irrationality. Sir David, I posted that last flame post at about 4 AM in the morning before going to bed. It's usually a time when anything resembling rational thinking is non-existant . The irony was that a few hours earlier, I had read through a flame war another forum somewhere else, and tried to make a list of things *not* to do at a discussion board, so when I was posting that, I basically broke the advice rules I had written two hours earlier. What is trolling on a discussion board btw, Is it something akin to flaming? And what was an example of it in your post? -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! Hey, is that the full version? Cool, didn't know they gave it out already. But I can understand it, it's rather old. I think I found it as a demo on a CD of Settlers II (old strategy game), and I think that was almost five years ago. ;) The 3D graphics suck badly, but in other places, where there are 2D graphics, the graphics are better than those of Exile! :P Though not as good as Avernum. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. I did not say flaming was better. I said it was easier. The easier way is usually the bad one. If being nice was easier than being nasty, this thread would not be necessary, and the world would be a better place. Oh, and to keep with the topic of the thread, I'd like to say that Zephyr, once being officially called the terror of all RPs, has greatly improved, is now no longer spamming and has become a member who, while not being the most popular, is not hated either. Also, I must mention ef - though mentioned before - who responded to my flame post in the second 'avatar' topic, and rationally stopped what might have become a really ugly, stupid flame war between David and me. Edit: And it *is* more of an effort to be nice. This post, while being actually shorter than the flame post, took double the time to write, but I'm practicing . If we all occasionally would put more effort in posting positively, these boards would definitely improve .
