There is a situation where the move stranger made is legal, if my poor knowledge of chess serves. I think it had some French name; 'en passer'? Anyway, I thought that move was, like the one where you swap king and castle around (don't remember the English word for that), a special move and only allowed early in the game. Maybe, however, stranger is a professional and knows what he's doing. I have no idea if the move was legal in that case, but I know there is such a move. …"En Passant," if I remember correctly (it’s been years since I’ve played chess). OK, I ran a search: here is more information on the move. By the way, I’m not commenting on whether or not the move shown here was actually legal … I’ll leave that for the experts to decide! [EDIT, for Arancaytar: the English term for simultaneously shifting the king and the rook is “castling.”] [ Tuesday, July 08, 2003 08:28: Message edited by: Churl ] Posts: 37 | Registered: Monday, June 9 2003 07:00 |

Wow, I didnt know that move...oh well, never mind, I think I can spare a foolish pawn recruit scuadron, after all they are expendable, THEY ARE ALL EXPENDABLE HAhAHAHAHAHA!!! code: . . b . . . . r . p . . . k p p r . p q n n . . p . b . . . B . . . Q . . . . . . . N . . . . . P P P . . P P P R . . . . R K .
...and so the heroic white pawns who had valiantly defeated the overconfident dark pawns and advanced deeply into enemy territory where soon caught by fatigue. The running and the battle had been to much for them so they decided to take a nap. Thats when the queen made her entrance and silently assesinated each white pawn while they slept...now thats a lady you dont wanna mess with. Lt Sullust, that could almost qualify as an attempt of sabotage, but I'll accept that you didn't examine the board closely enough to see the bishop. code: . . b . . . . r . . . . . k p p r . p . n n . . p p b . . . . . . . Sorry for basically usurping this game, but I have a strategy I'd like to try out, especially since stranger seems to me to be good enough to kick butts of us all simultaneously. code: . . b . . . . r . . n . . k . p r . p . . n p B p p b . . . . . . . . . . . . Q . . N . . . . . P P P . . P P P R . . . R . K .
I fear that his Bishop and queen is going to end the game in some unforseeable way in the next few moves. Edit: Just a few changes in text, nothing changed in the move. [ Tuesday, July 08, 2003 09:27: Message edited by: Arancaytar ] -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! OMG!!! What are you people doing...I can find a pawn expendable, but I shall not, will not, tolerate loosing a queen!!!!! I mean what will be of the poor King without his Queen. All my plan has been destroyed...oh well, I always fight till the end and this will make no exeption, even if there are spies among my people. Anyone is free to join now, this game has been seriously altered. But for the next game lets play 1on 1, it is unlikely that two people have the same plans when the game develops more. code: . . b . . . . r . . . . . k . p r . p . n n p B p p b . . . . . . . . . We're nearly checkmate, with two possible moves remaining for the king. Nazgul, you should have taken his knight last time, as I originally planned to do before deciding to see if you came up with anything better. code: . . b . k . . r . . . . . . . p r . p . n Q p B p p b . . . . . . . . . To avoid any confusion now, I have to point out that Nazgul and I moved at the same time. However, we chose to make the same move (which is hardly coincidental considering that there were two possible moves. So it doesn't really matter which of our moves counted. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T.
