Hi everyone, For those of you interested in BoA and who are making graphics for BoA, I encourage you to submit your graphics to the Louvre, the BoA graphics database. See my sig below for the address. My goal is to compile enough graphics prior to the actual release of BoA so that aspiring scenario developers have plenty of ready-to-use graphics to choose from. -------------------- All that we see, or seem, is but a dream within a dream. I don't think so; this is basically supposed to be an ad for a spidweb related page. In order for lots of people to read it, it ought to be in General. But it's up to the mods to decide... I hope the mods DON'T move it - I wanted to post to this forum to reach people interested in contributing to BoA - people who might not ever check the BoA forum. -------------------- All that we see, or seem, is but a dream within a dream. The mods won't move it. Nobody around here messes with the BoE Posse . I can't draw to save my life, but I hope to contribute to the BoA community once the program's out. -------------------- KazeArctica: "Imagine...wangs everywhere...and tentacles. BMP2JPG online converter Just go to the site, enter the location path of the file (on your own computer, it doesn't need to be uploaded!), or click choose to browse through the folders, then hit Convert, and you get a jpg file you can then save on your computer. It's jpg, but Brett takes those too I hear. I couldn't find anything for gif. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. JPG is an attack on good taste when you're using graphics with a transparent color. Trust me on this one. -------------------- In a word, gay. --Bob the Impaler Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

It is in general a bad idea to use JPEG whenever dealing with sprites (as opposed to backgrounds). This is because JPEG is NOT a lossless format (That's why it manages a to hit a 90% compression rate regularly). Which means that the sharp edges of your sprite will start to look fuzzy in JPEG (and editing them in JPEG format makes it worse). Try GIF. Or just ZIP'ing a BMP file. -------------------- Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heilighthum! The online converter actually did not alter the pic in any way. No fuzzy edges, and no pixels. I suppose the background is not transparent, but that doesn't matter, you're going to have to convert it back to bmp - or whatever you mac people use - anyway before you can use it, so the background doesn't matter. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! Transparency does matter a lot - that's why we use GIFs in the first place. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Vahnatai Did Do It desperance.net - We're Everywhere The Arena - God Will Sort The Dead ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! You can just repaint the background white when it's in bitmap form again. It's a little more work, but when there's no decent GIF converter anywhere... If there is, please give a link here, I would really appreciate one. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! His Flashing eyes, his Floating hair!" S. T. I tried that already and didn't find anything, or I wouldn't be asking for a link. I'm not that foolish, you know. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! Custer, I tried googling, but the machine hates me. All I got was nothing. Bah, I'll make one hill terrain and then force my Paint to work. Fast, hard. -------------------- - WITH LOVE, THE OL' RELIABLE BOYLOVE, TO BE EXACT Posts: 761 | Registered: Thursday, June 19 2003 07:00 |

Actually JPEG may not change the picture in a visible way (that's the whole point) but it will change it anyway. Try subtracting the original pixel values everywhere, and you won't get pure black any more. A graphics convertor? I use kodak photo editor myself. But at jpeg.org you can download the sourcecode to a JPEG decoder, and it also has a program that converts several types of image to one another. -------------------- Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heilighthum!
