Well, at the risk of starting a flame war, I'm going to recommend you try Geneforge 1 or 2, and not Blades of Exile. I, like you, an a casual gamer. I bought Blades of Exile, and I don't believe I've ever finished a single scenario. I don't dispute the fact that it has a dedicated community, but it really takes a lot of "leg-work" to get into the Exile engine, let alone start doing things like changing resource forks to import graphics. And don't even think about sitting down and crunching out a scenario - every time I tried I just became confused and frustrated. The Geneforge series has an engaging and unique plot, and isn't terribly difficult to lean. The Avernum series is also pretty good. I enjoyed Avernum 1, particularly the final battle. Avernum 2 kind of became boring to me after a while, and I haven't really tried 3 yet, but it looks promising. And, if you're feeling like something different, I REALLY enjoyed Nethergate. That probably is my favorite Spiderweb game. Unfortunately, the interface and game play can be a bit difficult if you're only playing a couple of hours a week. So, if you're anything like me, stay away from "Exile" since it really does take a significant amount of time to understand. Z Posts: 186 | Registered: Thursday, February 27 2003 08:00 |

Draykfyre - I know that you mean Blades of Geneforge, but does it really have to be "Bog"? As someone on the G2 board noted, that word is used by South Africans to describe an extremely dirty and disgusting toilet. I liked my idea of "Geneforge ongoing Development System" - GoDS And, btw, Realmz was great in 1994 - back in the day when Apple was being led around by the idiot-chimpanzee CEO John Scully who nearly ruined the company before it was saved by Steve Jobs. No commerical game developer even looked at the Mac back then, so shareware flourished. And Realmz was among those great titles. Then, inexplicably, Fantasuck kept releasing "upgrades" to Realmz that made it worse and worse and worse. Who are these guys taking lessons from, Microsoft? And New Centurions was a sick, evil joke of a game. Especially since the Realmz engine allowed you to import your own graphics. Basicly, it was just a sci-fi scenario with new graphics - hardly worth the price of admission. Oh yeah, and it took about three years to produce that thing. Anyway, they haven't done anything since then. Z Posts: 186 | Registered: Thursday, February 27 2003 08:00 |

I'm having a strange problem with Avernum 3 on my brand new 17" iMac computer running OS 10.2 - In combat, the enemy characters' moves are not shown. I sounds are played and during my turn they appear to where they've moved, but it gets pretty annoying. I tried changing the screen settings, reinstalling, etc., and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggested fixes? Zorro [ Thursday, June 12, 2003 17:49: Message edited by: Zorro ] -------------------- Pan Lever: Seventeen apple roving mirror moiety. Have you tried Avernum 2 and Avernum 3? Sorry, I couldn't resist being a smartass. BTW - Realmz is really terrible! Is there any point to that game? I also rather liked the Ultima III port for the Mac. Yes, it came out about 10-15 years after the PC version, but the wait was worth it! Posts: 186 | Registered: Thursday, February 27 2003 08:00 |

—Alorael, who can't think of any other company that so completely refused to make a new product to sell as a new product. New Centurions even has places where it still calls itself Realmz! Really? that's rich! Where does NC call itself Realmz? And why the hell does Realmz use a 'z' anyway? And why does Alorael seem to know the answer to every question? They "co-produced"? Did they distribute Exile the way Jeff does Galactic Core? BTW - tried out Realmz, and I was underwhelmed. Posts: 186 | Registered: Thursday, February 27 2003 08:00 |

What's this? I heard that Spiderweb's games used to be distributed under the name "Fantasoft." Is this true? If so, is Fantasoft just the old name of Spiderweb? Inquiring minds want to know! Posts: 186 | Registered: Thursday, February 27 2003 08:00 |
