Okay, I know it has been discussed before, and I know it's not going to happen and I know that it is a somewhat contraversial issue on these boards, BUT... HOW GOOD WOULD INTERNET AVERNUM BE!!!! Anyway, what do you guys think, I know it has it down sides and that it probably isn't going to happen, but I can't help wondering what spiderweb is going to do after BoA... It would be like... Eventually, mayors would be elected etc and one town might decide to take over another. Wars would begin, then people would start to ally. In the end you would end up with nations or countries operating under a single person or party (drakefyre would be one of these i would imagine)... or even multiple parties. The system of government would depend on what the people vote for.Maybe when the current ruler dies (characters should have a life span of maybe 24 months, real time) his heir (you could get married and have a child maybe) or just another character of his choice, or the people would vote. just continuing on with my idea, you could own houses, and, to earn money, get jobs. for example, if you purchased a home (fairly small), you could keep the door unlocked and employ people to sell items at certain times. You would have a roster, and if the person rostered on doesnt come online during that period, you would fire them. It would be a good way to earn money (working). You could buy a house primarily to store items and rest of you liked. The computer town guards would guard it to make sure nobody enters. or if you were really insecure, you could employ trusted people to guard it. Eventually, computer characters (shopkeepers, guards etc) would be slowly eliminated and towns would begin to be owned by people. -------------------- Signatures can appear at the bottom of your posts. wouldnt it be cool if (for maybe the game after, or an add on to BoA) you could challenge other parties online. I see it as being several different worlds (how many and the size of the worlds would depend on how many users play). The player chooses his party (like in BoE), the player then decides on the world he chooses to enter where he wanderes around outdoors. There would be little if no unexpected game events (like fnding herbs). There you would come accross other players, whom you could battle. If you lose a battle you simply are returned to the start and the loss is tallied in your profile. If you win, you gain a number of skill points, depending on the skill of the party you just defeated compared to yours, and you continue. There would also be towns where you can purchase food, weapons, potions etc and rest. You can attack in towns, although it is unadvisable because every one would gang up on you. there are rumours that at macworld (tonight) is going to introduce new macs that cant start in classic. This obviously points towards the fact that appl is trying to break away from classic. Therefore, if jeff wants his game to be played in a couple of years time (i mean, many ppl are still playing exile) he should introduce a spiderweb graphic editor, similor to resedit, except especially adapted to spiderweb games. -------------------- Signatures can appear at the bottom of your posts. also, i forgot to mention that i did have a bit of a play around with that char graphics file before hand with resedit, but that shouldnt matter. I just tried to see if sound worked with headphones plugged in, but it doesnt, and finally, i also noticed that my internet is disconnected every 10 minutes or so, but that may be totally unrelated. -------------------- Signatures can appear at the bottom of your posts. I upgraded my av3 1.1.2, to 1.1.3, and played it for the first time, it was fine, but when i quit, it froze my computer (iMac, series 2, mac os 10.2). For those os u who dont use X, freezing is very very abnormal. So i restarted and now i cant play any sound at all. I tried restarting several times, and also fiddling around with the control panel, but my computer just wont play sound!!!!!!! i havnt played boe myself, so i dont know if there is a story line to scenario editors. If not, i know it would b a long way away, but i am so caught up in the avernum trilogy that i would really like to see another sequal.
