quote:Hate to tell you this but it is a valid real life style of fighting. a lot of moderns call this style 'Florentine', although it is not exclusively European. It is a difficult style not because you cannot do sufficient damage but because of the difficulty of not falling in to an easily read pattern. Simply, if your pattern is short it is easy to decipher in the quickest battle and you die - if it is longer it requires a longer battle to work out making your chances better. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! What is wrong with the graphics?? Yes, they are not state of the art 3D but they do the job of conveying the world around you. If you want 'crappy' graphics go replay Exile - they were never wonderful but we liked the game in spite of them. A far bigger problem in my view, is the fact that we've lost a third of our party! Me = Exile player. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Posts: 56 | Registered: Tuesday, July 23 2002 07:00 |

I might never have bought Avernum 4 if it hadn't shown up on BigFish. I like Exile much better - ancient graphics and all. I was buying the Geneforge series - albeit slowly. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Posts: 56 | Registered: Tuesday, July 23 2002 07:00 |

Avernum 4 is now available via Bigfish Games. I just used my monthly credit (I have an account) to buy it. I love Jeff's games - I like Exile better than Avernum though but I already own all of them. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Hmmmm. I actually didn't like Avernum - the movement was off putting to me - especially since I am very good at keypad movement. I got used to 2handed keyboard work via Civ and never looked back. the mouse work in Avernum made me grind my teeth in frustration. Perhaps I need to look at it again? -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Posts: 56 | Registered: Tuesday, July 23 2002 07:00 |

I only bought it via Real Arcade because I got 2 free games with a free months' subscription. I also prefer to purchase from the source but funds do not always permit such extravagance. I had the demo's of the Exile quartet for around 6 years before I could afford them! This is also why I am concerned as to wether or no I get the discount on that version when I get the CD & hint book pack. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Has anyone else bought Geneforge 2 via Real Arcade? I did but now I wonder about getting a discount on the cd's / hint books as there is no code supplied. Are there any other differences in the versions? Can I still insert any cheat files available? I do like to support my favourite independent RPG company (I even bought the book for a friend who had a baby girl) but circumstances require I find the cheapest way possible to do it *sigh*. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Way back in the ealy 90's I ran a search on rpg, free download. Esile 1@2 came up (then down), I played. Around a decade later I actually came up with the money to buy the lot. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Posts: 56 | Registered: Tuesday, July 23 2002 07:00 |

Most of the writings on Nephilim (and the other tribes of Angel/Man crosses) was left out of the bible as the result of a Synod. The representatives at said Synod decided the Book of Enoch (father of Noah) was not in keeping with the rest of the Bible and could be discarded despite being used by the Apostles in their teachings. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! When you say 'trained in a skill' I take it you mean adding points to something after the initial character creation screen, yes? So if I want to have my 2 buyable training sessions I can't add points to anything I can buy training for in the screen I get by clicking on the little '?' button by my portrait, no? -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! I am a student of the runes also but with regard to this quote: "BTW I'm now leaning to the theory that the 'geneforeg' spelling is not a misspelling at all, because I think it's quite likely that the 'g' rune is always soft but the 'o' rune is only long if followed by 'e'." Should not the 'e' follow the 'o' instead of the 'r' to be lengthening the vowel? As for Jordan, I did not despair until after I had had to read the first 6 books multiple times each. I have limited funds and must purchase most books secondhand, so my aquisition of the series was very piecemeal. I got the first 3 (read 'em), much later got the fourth, fifth, sixth (forcing me to re-read all the prior novels each time). Then I jumped to book 8 and had to wait until I could find book 7 as the storylines were too confusing without it. Later still I got book 9 (AARRGH!). I think I've pretty much Timed out (sic). I liked most of the other books mentioned (execpt the new Dune novels) but I have been described as insufficiently discriminating. However, while I might read anything once, it is no guarantee that I will ever read it again. I have even read the bible (several times) and the koran (once so far) plus many other religous texts. I once read a dictionary! (I was truly bored on that occasion.) Unfortunatly my rate of reading is over 1500 words/minute so I get through an awful lot of material even with all the time I spend doing other things. I gladly take suggestions if you'd like to message me with a few more. -------------------- Zarai n'Sharia! Mehkkti an khre shen mahkkti! Posts: 56 | Registered: Tuesday, July 23 2002 07:00 |
