Alcritas is the screenname of Ian Klinkhamer, a lawyer who also designs brilliant BoE scenarios. He has run nearly all the BoE contests aside from the first. He has won two of them, and you could put forward a fair case for An Apology being robbed. He has a tendency to get into arguments and will never accept defeat. He hates Jeff Vogel with a passion. When there were elections to the position of Misc. moderator, a certain group of people campaigned heavily for Alcritas to be elected, having noticed that there was no requirement for the winner to want the job. He lost out to Lady J, but many still feel that he deserved to win. (sigh) I get so sick of saying this. 1) Some may be ported, but the more complex (and better) they are, the more difficult it will be and the less likely it will happen. 2) Some of the BoE scenarios out there are much better than any game Jeff has made. Let's put it this way. Say you saw a DVD player and a VHS player for sale. There were very few movies available on DVD at this point, and very old films were going to be transferred to DVD - probably none of the great classics of cinema. Assuming a similar price, which is better value? There's no reason you can't have both. But, at this stage, BoE is a much, much better buy. -------------------- Rate my scenarios! It would hardly be the first time it's been done. Plenty of BoE scenarios have included Avernum and/or Geneforge graphics. So go for it. By the way, I don't believe that any scenario that has been heavily publicised before it's release has ever been completed. Just something for you to think about. If you have imagination, you will have stories of your own that you will want to tell. If you do not have imagination, you will not be able to make a good scenario, regardless of your source material. It's as simple as that. While certainly personal opinion counts for a lot, I'd be amazed if anyone considered The Arkenstone or Blade of the Jedi to be more than okayish. I think that the scenarios that will be made will be better than a Helm's Deep scenario could ever be and good designers won't waste their time with that sort of thing. -------------------- Rate my scenarios!
