Doesn't seem to be working yet under Windows. I emailed you about it Kelandon. First crash at the introduction scene (before you take control of your party). Can't seem to find the custom graphics (I think).

Darn. i was actually hoping to be in the first round, as I wasn't sure I will have time when the second round starts. I might be on vacation...

I'll see what happens, i guess.

Hi, everyone, I just realized that I'm an idiot and forgot to convert the graphics. Windows users won't be able to play until I (or some friendly Mac tester) does so. I'll try to do that tomorrow morning if no one else does it sooner.

All right for me; I'll have to put off the start for another 24 hours anyhow. I'll begin testing right afterward, however.

It's a bit late I know, but hey;

Name by which you'd liked to be credited:
E-mail address:

Archmagus Micael

archmagusmicael@gmail.com

Operating system (Mac, Windows, etc.): Windows XP

Do you want to be part of the first group of testers (bearing in mind the time/energy commitment that it entails):
Not particularly bothered.

Do you have a save file for a party that has just finished Bahssikava:
Um, no, as that party soon died forever when the PC got virused.

Do you want to use the Beta Testing Center:
It's up to you, though I'd personally prefer emails.

Just a question to other testers - what do you think of the difficulty of combat? The first one, in particular. I got past it, but heck, it's tough.

I got through it after two attempts. The first attempt I took too long to kill the enemy and I drowned...

The second time I used a lot of mass effect spells and I managed to pull it off.

Really, the key is to run away. Not all of the fights are meant to be won.

Seriously, don't try to fight these fights with just blessing, hasting, and trying to kill everything. That will get you in trouble.

I found that control foes helps greatly when there are that many enemies. Get them busy fighting each other while you leave. What gets worse is the later fights where running away is not an option. While I can survive them; they get really long and my stock of energy potions is getting depleted fast.

Oh, really? You kind of send mixed signals when you say that the party is supposed to stall them. I decided against running away for that very reason.

Well, you can't just keep running from them. You do stall them a little bit. Then you run.

My main point was just that you shouldn't try to kill all of them in the allotted time (which is what Kass tells you, anyway).

As I noted over e-mail, I'm going to change the shops so that this will be less of an issue. Also, there are a few items (if you can find them) that help with this.

You said you wanted notification when we reached certain points in the Scenario. Well here it is:

I reached Thassaka roughly an hour ago and now I've reached the Lava ocean.

My exams are done. Testage will commence in one hour, once I'm home from work again.

Testage? Word of the week, my boy, word of the week.

And yes, Control Foes is a miracle worker. So is Arcan Shield - well worth the SP in this case.

Kel, just wanted to alert you to my first report. I to am just past That Town With The Funny Name. Jeez i hate trying to remember where the "s"'s go...

Interesting. I tried to use Control Foes and Arcane Shield and found them conferring no real advantages for my party. I'll have to look into this.

Arcane Shield is good against the (preserving secrecy here) G509 monsters, who have really bad melee attacks but weak breath attacks.

Control Foes is good in the really big battles, but I've never been a fan of that spell; it slows down my killing.

Once you get them, spells 17 and 18 out of the spellbook are really good against groups.

So True...

Did anyone else notice that they seem to be harder in dungeouns rather than outdoor encounters?

Anyway, I'm now up to the next camp (after the Lava Ocean) and I've sent you my second report.

Control Foes is really good against all of the monsters. And Arcane Shield - I swear by it. never really used it until now, but the invulnerability effect is so useful.

The new(...) creatures seem easier in their respective caves than in the outdoors, to me at least.

Spell 3 from the Blessing book is my current favourite.

I've been playing this thing with low levels of all of those spells (not enough Arcane Shield to get invulnerability, not enough Control Foes to have any effect on the monsters), which must be the reason for my different outcomes.

I never got hostile spells 17 and 18 to do much for me, but I kept ramping up their power every few dungeons, so maybe they're strong enough now to be good. I did make pretty serious use of spell 15, once I got it. I'm suspecting that spell 14, which is only available very late in the scenario, will be pretty seriously a fight-ender.

Hostile 17 is great for clearing up summons, and weakening those pesky mages. And because my mage isn't actually attacking them, they aren't coming for her.

Bleesing 4 seems a bit pointless at the minute, but I may need it at higher levels.

And I made it into the Lava Oceans, and am about to send the second chumk of my report.

Blessing 4 is really only useful at level 3 (which you will deeply desire when you wander through the Lava Ocean). I might change the way it functions accordingly.

By the way, I started testing yesterday and will probably have a first list of comments ready this afternoon - just in case you're wondering if I forgot. ;)

Edit: The special spell system reminds me of this cartoon. ^_^

I'm starting to appreciate the sense of humor that my beta testers always bring to my scenarios. I believe that it was Thuryl who titled his report for LP (then titled "The Darkness") as "Putidus Believes In A Thing Called Forcible Rape," and now I have testers making comments such as, "So, yeah... DEMON SEX. BABY MUTILATION."

:D
