I guess that means Nine Variations didn't make the cut. :P

Anyone want to make their predictions? Thirteen scenarios, ten spots....

I don't know. I haven't played some of these.

Judging by other ratings and such, I'm guessing the top 3 will be LP, Bahss, and Mad Ambition. One of those 3 will win.

Cave of No Return, Cresent Valley, Xerch'de, and RoR will not get in.

Well, whether or not Cresent Valley gets left out depends mainly on whether Jeff, Linda or Mariann is the judge.

I don't think "A Large Rebellion" will make it. I downloaded this and immediately stopped. I thought it was awful.

My money is on "Bahssikava", "Canopy" or "Mad Ambition".

Well, I'm just happy that there are scenarios that will rank below mine. I'm confident that DoK can beat Undead Valley, A Large Rebellion, Crescent Valley, RoR, and maybe even Backwater.

I think RoR will get the lowest, just because it's a port. Crescent Valley should be next-to-last, and if you've read half of its dialogue, you know why. A Large Rebellion and Undead Valley will be towards the bottom, due to annoying quests (LR wins there) and sheer confusing-ness (UV).

And yes, it's obvious: Canopy, Bahss, and Mad Ambition are the best.

To be fair, DoK will rank rather low due to its length, numerous revisions, mundane quests, and often ill-explained backstory (which will be patched up in the sequel, I promise).

Yes it is, actually. In fact, it was specifically created in BoE so TM could test the porting function of BoA, wasn't it?

Yes, but the porting function sucked. The bits that didn't get ported properly (most of it) he remade differently.

Even if they'd apply the ages of the scenario designers, I'm not gonna win with my A Large Rebellion. (I'm 13 years old)

Are you just thirteen years old! Finally somebody who's younger than I am!

Since you've made already a relativley succesful scenario, would you mind helping me out? I posten my problems on the BoA editor forum. look "orb of thralni."

I somebody else can help me, please try, because I'm getting really irritated with the editor, and dont understand it at all!!!

By the way, my quess is that Bahssikiva (or something like that) would win. its wonderful.

Native english speakers have been irritated by the editor manuals, so I think you do a pretty good job, Thralni. Do you know Erik Westra's BoA cookbook? Spiderweb has a link to it on their page. It's a great help for beginners and explains the basic tasks and calls very well.

I liked ALR, it's various and thrilling, one of the better scenarios IMO. Maybe you'll win a free SW game :)

BTW, is there a bug-free version now to download? Or at least a newer version with less bugs? I'd like to replay it then.

For anyone who's keeping score, there are 22 scenarios on the Lyceum Rated list. Eliminate 4 'cuz they're by Jeff. Eliminate APF and BS 'cuz they're by beta testers. Eliminate DaC because it never got submitted and 9Var because it apparently got rejected out of hand. Eliminate NM because it came out well after the deadline. That gets us to 13 for this contest.

My predictions:

13-11. In no particular order, UV, RoR, and X'd. Too short, not enough impact.
10. ALR — long enough but not polished enough to do well here.
6-9. Again in no particular order, CV, LP, EM, and TCoNR. All short, so they take bottom half. Any of these might fall to tenth, but that seems less likely.
4-5. DoK and BC. I think Jeff will like the game mechanics of BC, but it doesn't have the polish to take it to the top three. DoK is competent and somewhat longer than the others, from what I understand. LP or EM might take fifth, but it seems unlikely.
1-3. MA, Canopy, Bahs. MA might drop farther if the linearity grates on Jeff too much. Bahs or Canopy might drop farther if Jeff can't beat them. If any of these drop, I predict BC will be the one that rises.

What I think SW should do is another thing. :P

Thanks, ef. I need every support I can get at the moment.

(But what was it that I did a good job on, actually?)

EDIT:
I downloaded the cook book, and already used it a lot of times. But thanks anyway.

 How could anybody not beat Bahs or Canopy? Bahs has only one torment fight (the dragon at the end), and Canopy provides these scry devices that make it really easy to find the right weapon.
Ok., you are joking I guess.

To be fair, Bahs is better for it's difficulty. Because, yes, I did find it hard. That annoying summoning altar...grr...

Anyway, after replaying all scenarios, I now have a top 5 (only my opinions):

Fifth will be Druids. This is good, and had an average plot. It's also more polished and longer than other contenders.

Fourth is Emerald Mountain. I loved this. It had good plot, slightly branching story, and gorgeous terrain. I liked this more than Backwater Calls, so...

Third will be Canopy. I especially think that the custom spells will do TM a big favour here, and it's a sizeable scenario, with lots of towns, and some really interesting dialogue, not to mention a great plot.

Secondly, I put Mad Ambition. The linearity drags slightly, but this contains by far the most "real" characters we've yet seen in BoA. Plus a good plot, and some amazingly clever tricks, make it a hot favourite.

That means my money's on Bahs to win. This is becasue although MA is my favourite, Kelandon worked wonders in every way. It has an incredible plot, lots of amazing scripting, and is large enough, and hard enough, to get us thinking about replaying.

Bahs also comes with a walkthough. People have suspected that Jeff gave up on Nephil's Gambit about a quarter of the way through. It took 11th in the BoE contest but is rated right around the same place on CSR as Tatterdemalion, which took first.

I'm wondering if there will be an Erika's Legacy of this contest, and if so, I think it will be CV.

Oh the suspense! Oh the anticipation!

By the way, upon further thought, scratch part of what I said earlier. Either Canopy or Mad Ambition will take top three, but not both. I think BC will be the other member of the Top 3, but it could be DoK possibly.

TM and Kel could have their scenarios combined into one entry apiece like what happened at the first contest.
