I moved about a year ago, and after a family member got sick I had to stop school for a while. I do intend on going back to school when able. For the past several months I've just been working, and there has been a lot of construction done on the house, which has taken a good amount of my attention. We also have four new puppies, so they've been keeping me busy as well.

Woah, it's Dolphin! Hey, you!

EDIT: Puppies.

EDIT 2: No, this post isn't really supposed to make sense.

Congrats Synergy! I got fairly drunk after I received my Ph.D., and again once I realized I was out of a job!

Currently I'm doing a post-doc here at the U of Arizona, though I'm also waiting to hear on an assistant professorship at the University of Arkansas in geosciences. I should find out in the next 2 weeks. At least it's from one U of A to another U of A.

Hey Kel and Salmon, thanks for the welcome :)

Wanted to stop in and see who was still around, and how everyone is. Probably wont post a ton, but I'll read through the threads more often.

Ah, so you're really back then, instead of just stopping in once or twice. Welcome back!

Yes, this is the downside to finally graduating. One no longer has an excuse to not have a real job. I'm giving myself two more weeks till I buckle down to it. Meanwhile, everyone who knows I'm also an electrician has a job for me. There's a weird irony in graduating in one's much beloved new field to find oneself with jobs popping up in one's former not so beloved profession. But hey, bills to pay.

Dolphin: thank you for honoring this thread with your return. I know I've commented here once or twice in the past that I was sorry I never had the opportunity to enjoy your company here, as apparently I arrived about the same time you departed. Do stick around, if you'll be so good. Clearly you are appreciated here. And if one must be spammy, I would have to say that it is good to be artistically spammerific.

Salmon, finally I understand your signature. I haven't yet had the courage (or foolhardiness) to try the goofballs I was thoughtfully given absolutely free of charge by someone on the wrong side of the tracks.

It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Synergy. Congratulations on your achievement. A Masters is quite a bit of time and work.

If you're referring to Dolphin, she is a she. She is in fact one of the lovelier women we have around here.

Hey Synergy, did I ever get my bonus points for calling the inspiration for the title? 'Cause, like, I kinda need them right now, dig?

Dolphin, welcome back.

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

"The title was inspired by Boost Mobile, possibly via the relevant ATHF episode."

Well, I'd be delighted to award you the points, Drew, but you'll have to come up with the correct answer first. CLUE: Think about one of Synergy's admitted preferences of the past—perhaps the distant murky past to many here. It wouldn't be a challenge if it weren't a tiny bit obscure.

Actually he will since his old UoA uses the wimp A. I was there when the changed from the old block UA in the 1980s.

Please ignore the question if you don't want to talk about it, but how do you feel about that last item? My wife and I are both still working, and our daughter is very low maintenance as five year olds go, but that's not really all that low, and our careers are rather high maintenance. I don't think we're really thinking of changing anything soon, but we're definitely thinking about the issues.
