As 2007 approaches us, what movies are you looking forward to in the upcoming year?

For me, I'm most looking forward to the new Harry Potter movie. I'm also looking forward to Bridge to Terabithia although I haven't read the book) and The Golden Compass (which I've started reading). I'm not sure particularly why I'm looking forward to the other two. I might also see Pirates 3, but I'm not particularly excited about it after 2.

In my humble opinion, bridge to Terabithia is a decent book.

They made a movie of that?! Ahh! What a great book!!

Hopefully the newest Harry Potter won't be as bad as the others, although given the streak, it probably will be. I'm much more interested in the actual book.

My theory is that Snape had that Unbreakable Bond thingy with Dumbledore (or whatever that was called) in such a way that if Dumbledore was ever in a position where he would jeopardize anyone else at Hogwarts, Snape would be duty-bound to kill him first. Snape's really a good guy; he had such a look of hatred when he killed Dumbledore because he didn't want to, and Dumbledore pleaded with him (not specifying what it was he wanted) because he knew Snape didn't want to. Remember that Snape was still helping out Harry up to the point he left the book, reminding him to close his mind.

Yeah. So. Anyway, that's how my cookie crumbles.

Eh, I'm still hopeful that it has to be better (in fact, one of the best), simply by being the concluding book.

Dikiyoba thinks that because Dikiyoba likes the first and fourth books best. The first one introduces the series (when it was new and interesting) and big things happen in the fourth book. The others are just filler. But the final book can't be all filler, right?

Diki, I think Robinator was talking about the new movie, not the new book.

That being said, I liked the previous movies. And I can't wait to read the final book (and the title is released, if you don't already know.)

I'm looking forward to the Russian presidential election. That should be more entertaining than all the Harry Potter movies combined.

Edit: *double checks* Seems that's in 2008... damn. I have a feeling 2007 is going to be mediocre all around. Maybe Castro will die... then I can finally take a vacation to Cuba!

SNAPE KILLS POTTER!

Well, I can hope, can't I?

The only thing I'm really looking forward to watch is the '08 mini-series for Wizards' First Rule. I just stopped going to theaters after LotR.

Sweeney Todd. I'm skeptical about how good it will actually be, but I love the musical enough to be hopeful.

—Alorael, who doesn't even know what other movies to expect in 2007. 2008 will have an interesting Lions of Al-Rassan, though.

Only Sondheim could be perverse enough to make a musical about flesh pot pies. The music is amazing, though. It always felt a little weird to have the woman who played Ruth in 'Pirates of Penzance' and who keeps making ads about starving kids in Africa (Angela Lansbury) talking about the joys of cutting people up with barbers' razors and selling them as meat pies. Isn't the new movie with Johnny Depp?

How in the world can they air a televised adaptation of Terry Goodkind's work with out changing it? 1/5 of Wizard's First Rule was rather pornographic.

Besides the over the top BDSM, which can easily be converted into plain old torture, what in Wizard's First Rule is especially pornographic? Goodkind didn't really start reaching out to the lowest common denominator until later books.

—Alorael, who coincidentally notes that it's already around that point that he started reaching out to the objectivists. Around book 5 or 6 it becomes not very thinly veiled allegory.

The Hobbit, not that crappily done animated version, mind, but the full-lenthed version by Jackson. Not sure when it's going to be released though.

EDIT: Not sure about the Jackson part, I heard a rumor that he was fired.

It's not a rumor. He was fired.

Also about Harry Potter, he better end up dying in the last book. I don't care what Stephen King thinks...

If Harry Potter dies in the last book, maybe I'll read it after all.

Is the series ending?

Yes, it's ending. If I recall correctly, Rowling stated that two main characters die, one possibly being Parry Hotter.

Sword of Truth always was thinly veiled allegory. It's just that he wanted to develop his characters over the course of the series.

Apparently, one of those developments was Jagang going from spurning the Creator to a fanatic (really, read BotF again).

Mua ha ha ha ha!!!), The Golden Compass, and...yeah...that's about it. Oh, by the way, the new James Bond is so horrible and poorly done it's hilarious.

Basically, I'm just waiting for the new Harry Potter movie. Haven't heard of anything great that coming, though.

Keep posting,

Apparently it was because of a lawsuit over payment for the trilogy. Funny how the people you think never cared for money suddenly do. Like when Bill Nye sued Disney for not getting paid enough.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, and... that's about it. I really don't look forward to movies.
