There are more than 1000 topics for General. Or, rather, there used to be more than 1000 topics. However, the forums must be purged now and then, so they only appear in Arancaytar's archives. -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. The boards get purged... doesn't that mean that that ridiculously high numbered topic the prophesies speak of will never happen? Another victory for the Concluding Resolution. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Depends upon how Jeff wants to deal with the glut of junk that has been posted especially during the recent spamfest. There are several topics that got locked in the last week that if deleted would never be missed. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The prophecies don't speak of post numbers. They speak of forums. While forums can be and have been purged, the numbers aren't reused. —Alorael, who would like a moment of silence for forum 11. Misc, you will always be in the hearts of those who remember you. Edited for accuracy and removal of that pesky first person. Hey, I just think of it as one of the perks of having been around for a while. I get to get all misty-eyed while reminiscing about the good old days, and when the newcomers ask me to explain I can just sigh and say that words don't do it justice. —Alorael, who has decided that Misc. was a pretty good thing before its last days. It had its moments, and nobody ever had to justify creating a thread solely for the purpose of editing others' posts. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Why is this being celebrated when four of the most recent topics have been locked? -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Posts: 4130 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Ok, so this should be locked, now that I've seen what has been locked already. Lock away. Posts: 107 | Registered: Monday, December 4 2006 08:00 |

Three of those four were created after this one. That's something to be concerned about to be sure, but it's not this thread's fault. And Dikiyoba doesn't think we're celebrating so much as we're reminiscing and teaching GoodCanisters new things. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

As I understand it, the mods don't usually lock topics that are likely to simply die a natural death of their own uselessness unless there is flaming or the spam is getting out of hand. Or perhaps they simply haven't gotten around to it. -------------------- Take the Personality Test! Deep down, you wish you were a stick figure. Maybe mods should occasionally go back and lock topics to prevent necromancy. While most topics die natural deaths, there have been some popping up recently and getting locked because the new posts weren't useful additions. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

True, but it's also good bait to draw in necromancers looking to revive topics for no good reason. Also, someone at a later date may have something important to add to that topic.
