Those crazy metalheads truly deserved this, best Eurovision in years, if not ever.

I watched Eurovision once. I found the blatantly biased voting tremendously amusing.

The voting really is the best part of it. When I was a small child I used to stay up until midnight just to watch all the voting.

The worst and most Americanised Eurocrap contest I've seen so far. The Americans are still best at being American.

The Greek nationalism was sort of amusing, too - for example, instead of videos presenting the contestant countries, they showed Greek tourism commercials and some smiling Greek...models.

Thuryl, the contest itself may be old, but the songs can still remind a viewer of more modern contests. The French hairdresser/singer in particular reminded me of some dreadful karaoke stuff.

Memorable participants:
Lithuania, for mocking the contest by singing "We are the winners of Eurovision". They came in 4th place, if I recall correctly.
Finland, for being different.
Ukraine, for having the hottest singer, albeit not the most scantily clad one.

The ESC is the definition of eurotrash. And the main reason why Europe never can claim total moral superiority over America.

Thank God Finland won.

Lithuania was sixth. I know, because I rather liked their song.. and voted for it... and kept shouting whilst votes were being given: "Stay in top five! Stay in top five!"

It was amusing. :P

Also, I have mixed feelings of our winning song. I'm glad we won, but the way we got the victory, well... I can't quite celebrate. Not that it's bad, as such! but, well, you know. The words aren't that great, that's all.

Watched it last night. I have to give the Finland band props for having fun and not taking themselves too seriously. But really, for all the fierce looking make-up, that barely deserved to be called "hard rock" at all. I was expecting some blistering metal.

Lithuania was hilarious. "We are the winners! Of Eurovision! VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE FOR THE WINNERS!"

Germany doing a country and western song took me by suprise.

I thought France's entry was the best by far, but then they only got 5 points. Do I have no taste in music at all? :(

The rules of the contest require every entry to be a pop song. The definition of "pop song" can be stretched a little, but not as far as heavy metal. :P

France were utterly appalling. So were Spain. We (the UK) didn't do much better.

Finland definitely deserved to win, if only because of the torture they must have put themselves through wearing those masks! I did like Latvia, and Lithuania... and I really liked Denmark's song too, even though they didn't do very well.

Very funny to watch Russia voted for by all its former colonies and the Baltic states, and the Balkan countries all voting for each other!

I thought they were genuinely enchanting. :(

But yeah, Spain sucked. I was under the impression that Las Ketchup had gone the way of the square wheel and cardboard armour, but unfortunately it appears not. And Daz Sampson does nothing to correct the stereotype that white guys can't rap.

EWWW, I have horrible memories of my little brother running around singing that song for weeks, and the dance ew ew ew.

Yeah, that's them. And from the sound of the song they did, their one-hit wonder status is in no danger.

Finland, your song was played on CBC radio (cdn national radio) and an overwhelming response to this eurotrash was play something else please. We in Canada have no taste, eh.

On a side note, caught Ed the Sock on TV last night and he introduced a new superhero - Grinder Girl. Her skills involve turning the studio lights off, then grinding the metal plate on her crotch area to a blistering show of sparks.
