Has a song ever hit you squarely in the side of the head like a sack of industrial bricks? some of the ones that have smacked me silly are... "Only One" - Yellowcard "I Want My Life" - Smile Empty Soul "Digital Love" - Daft Punk "Minerva" - Deftones "Boyd's Journey" - Damon Albarn & Michael Nyman ["Ravenous" Soundtrack] "Trailer Trash" - Modest Mouse The first one is the most recent, and man did it hit me hard, the only thing thats hit me near as hard was "Butterfly Effect" and that hit me harder, brought me to tears. Ofcourse. Actually, that kind of things happen quite often if you listen to music very much. Here are few songs that I recall doing so: Minulla on sanottavaa! & Hyvä ihminen (Timo Rautiainen & Trio niskalaukaus) Pidä kädestä kiinni & Saalistaja (Indica) Blood red roses (Uriah Heep) Take it easy & Life in the Fast lane (Eagles) Nemo (Nightwish) Musta Aurinko (Juice Leskinen) -------------------- I have nothing more to do in this world, so I can go & pester the inhabitants of the next one with a pure concscience. Rainmaker - Iron Maiden Woke Up This Morning - Nickelback Power Trip - Chimaira Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down Clocks - Coldplay Dance Macabre - C. Saint-Saens Fifth Symphony - L. Beethoven. Another 45 Miles to go - Golden Earring Layla - Eric Clapton/Derek and the Domino's Dreams - Van Halen Nothing Else Matters - Metallica My Immortal - Evanescence Easier To Run - Linkin Park A couple of real good songs, in my opinion that is. There's lots of more stuff, but it's way to much to post. -------------------- There are 400 words in the dictionary that begin with "self" and only 8 that begin with "fellow". Several of Snafta's (though not all — Three Doors Down? Ew). Recently I heard "Infinite Dreams" by Iron Maiden for the first time, and that had the same effect. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Yes. At one time the few CDs I actually own were on a very high shelf. Well when that shelf collapsed they hit me very much like a brick. :) -------------------- The Knight Between Posts. Posts: 2395 | Registered: Friday, November 2 2001 08:00 |

Musically speaking, I've been hit my many bricks of varying consistencies. Good bricks: -"Human Torch", by Fastball -"Somewhere Else", by Razorlight -"You're an Ocean", by Fastball (among others) Bad bricks: -"For The Best", by Straylight Run. Actually, I'd known this one for a while, but that's what came on right after I broke up with my last ex-girlfriend. -"Whatsername", by Green Day -"Yahweh", by U2 -"When I Fall", by Barenaked Ladies And of course, there's always the Ben Folds Five song, "Brick". But that's just a weak, weak, weak pun. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I'm sure I'm leaving out some big ones, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head: All of Rent, with the possible exception of "Out Tonight" (which isn't so much a brick as a... well, never mind) Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi - Carl Orff (Carmina Burana) Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis Wounded - Third Eye Blind When I'm Gone - 3 Doors Down Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve Losing Lisa - Ben Folds Speed of Sound - Coldplay The Fallen - Franz Ferdinand On Top - The Killers The vast majority of Jesus Christ Superstar Your Song - Moulin Rouge (I'm not a huge fan of the original) -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. Wow. I've somtimes heard pop songs by strings, and it always sounded very... unusual. Some more songs came to my mind: Flight of the bumblebee (played by trombone) - Chrisitan Lindberg (the trombone player) Lohengrin, introduction 3 akte - Wagner Bernstein Mass - Bernstein (really weird) Verdi requiem, dies irae - verdi Jazz suite No2 - Shostakovich The bolt, suite from the ballet - Shostakovich Symphony 2, movement 2 - Rachmaninov. The piper - Abba Super trouper - Abba there are many more music pieces which I love, start crying when heard, or simply fall silent, but tht list would be too long. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. quote:Well, I didn't mean it was a bad song. I just meant it was the kind of emotional brick that you don't really need when you're having a good day. Bad brick = melancholy-inducing song. And how could I have forgotten The Killers? Just the opening of Somebody Told Me has the force of a brick... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead.
