The general idea of this thread is any 4 people to a dinner. Dead, alive, fiction, from a dream, fantasy, etc...

I should of specified that originally.

In that case, I'd definitely invite 4 inventors from early to mid 20th century science fiction, with the blueprints for their time machine and teleportation device. (I set the time period at early to mid 20th century to make sure that we could buy all necessary components in modern hardware and electronics stores.) Now I just have to remember the names of the characters...

Hmm, let me see, I haven't decided who I would invite, but I wouldn't mind dressing up in togas having some nice wine, and a nice buffet, a vomitorium, and a back room with a well stocked bar. OF course it would have to be in a nice emptied corner of the Palace of Versailles say a large gallery with lots of paintings and nice table cloths. :D

Ok then, I'll change my selection.

J.K Rowling
Albus Dumbledore (from Harry Potter)
Eddie Maguire
Sam Newman

Fictional AND dead, Spring? :P

In that case...

Gandalf.
Eferas Cirthain.
Melora.
Taron Gregor Merallion.

Yep, I like my RP characters, but nobody can really beat Gandalf. :D

No, but you CAN beat eggs. Therefore, they are superior to Gandalf in every way. EVERY way.

Ahem. I wouldn't invite my friends - I can see them anytime. Nor would I invite anyone fictional... imagine what my therapist would say when I told him I had lunch with Mary Poppins!

So, my four are:

Thom Yorke (Lead singer/guitarist for Radiohead)
Stephen Morrisey (of "The Smiths")
Tim Burton
Quentin Tarantino

All of them are part of the two loves of my life - music and film, and so I'd have them round to get ideas, tips etc. And to totally suck up.

I forgot about fiction and was having a hard time deciding.

I would invite:
Nakor the Isalani
Macros the Black
Merlin
Elminster

What gave away that impression? I actually do not collect responses in a notebook and I am not affilated with any kind of secret service agency that monitors these message boards. Some of the topics I start up are usually based off of stuff I think it's interesting that I read from the newspaper or see on TV (hence why I started up the "Human Cloning" thread). I just find it surprising that a lot of my starter topics get around 20-50 posts.

Any topic with any substance, or even some topics without substance will just generally accumulate that many posts. Us general-goers like to post.

Me, Jesus, and Bush would be interesting, really. I have no idea what TM would do, but I suspect he wouldn't be on too bad of a behavior. At least he'll have proof that there was a Jesus.

I figured that, since there are some topics that reach the hundreds post-wise. Have there ever been any topics to hit the thousands?

Funny, that I haven't even mentioned the 4 people I'd invite and I created this topic in the first place...

Myself, my Mom, my Dad, and probably my grandmother (since I never knew her that well and she died when I was 2, well grandmother on my mother's side)

My parents and I don't tend to eat dinner that often. They work the whole day, so it's hard to even say hello here and there.

Edit: Minor typos

Do you honestly believe that Jesus would approve of Bush' actions?

I agree: Assassinating your president would be quite justifiable. :P

And, of course, the proof of someone's existence is the proof that this person is "supernatural".

Well, maybe not all of them. :/

I wouldn't say ol' TM hates him that much. :P

Maybe Jesus could do a couple miracles and such then, y'know, turning all the anchovies on the pizza to pepperoni.
Jeros, I think one topic got to 1001 posts, but it was before I joined.

In theory. And since I'd be sectioned and possibly lobotomised, I WON'T be inviting Mary Poppins....

Oh, and I'd like to swap Tarantino for the guy who directed Donnie Darko. I forget his name (if I ever knew it).

Well ADOT, (T=Trees, jklolnmhjc!!!)just been rather busy, honestly. Sorry that I've left my mobile thingie on, I keep forgetting to take it off. I'll be going to my first year at Clemson soon, so the frequency of my visits will be...less frequent. See everyone soon I suppose.

So you are pretty much just inviting extraterrestrials to come over and have you for dinner?

Neither God nor Satan are persons per se, and thus void in this discussion.

If we can invite fictional characters and the dead, why not ethereal beings?

EDIT: Looks like this wasn't very funny. Maybe that wordplay made more sence in Russian.

EDIT2: As far I can tell, there was nothing inapropriate about it, but if it was bad enough to inspire "bad joke poliece report" comic, I'd save myself from the emberrasment of keeping it in the post.

I quoted the post about inviting all the man-eating aliens and replied with a sentence that could mean either "guests are invited to dinner" or "guests are put on the menu".

 It made sense I was just poking fun at you because it was a lame joke. My apologies if you got the wrong idea by my use of "bad" instead of "lame".

Fixation:

Zeviz's joke: "We're having guests for dinner" the cannibal said to his wife.

A better pic:

Although, all this discussion has totally ruined the effect.

But don't edit it out Zeviz. Or was it inappropriate.
