I wish all my fellow Americans a happy Fireworksday.

And... signing of Independence... blah blah blah.

Remember to shoot off every kind of illegal explosive you can find tonight.

Some people around here set off fireworks last night. They were close enough for me to be able to smell them, but a couple never exploded.

The 4th of July is my personal favorite holiday. Not that I actively care much about independence (though I'm sure I would if I didn't have any) but because setting fire to things that go boom is highly entertaining.

We did the family fireworks Saturday night and will go out tonight to watch a city display.

Happy 4th of July to all Americans, and while we don't celebrate it in Australia, it will most likely be on the news. Other than one of the Twleve Apostles collasing, we have been a bit deprived of news in recent days.

I went to see a bonfire up in Rockport tonight. It was big. They had a big pile of wooden pallets with a little house on top. It was really hot.
Before that, I went to a restaurant and had stuffed baked haddock.

Also, I just received word that my cat KitKat's daughter Cutie, who belonged to my uncle, died tonight. She was sick, I think. All I know is she wasn't eating for a few days. Everybody should grieve for Cutie now.
Also, KitKat apparently doesn't care.

My condolences, ADoS.

The only fireworks I see are my neighbours fireworks he 'obtains' before New Years Eve, and sets them off. Other than that, Wunta (my fair city's festival) is the only fireworks I see.

I didn't do much of anything this July 4. Usually I at least go to the town's fireworks display and shoot off a few in the alley, but I didn't bother to do either today. Very few holidays manage to get me going, with the important exception of Halloween.

Ahhhh

Living in a small rural community really pays off in spades on the blow'em up holidays (there are more than one :P ). We went downtown and were entertained by all the families shooting off their illegal fireworks from Washington, then a 30 minute display of official fireworks, and now is the best!

Everyone out in the country shoots their guns into the air/ground/trees/loose crap lying around the fields/outbuildings/beer cans. Sweet mother of god the dogs are hiding underneath each other now. Poor puppies.

Sorry to hear about Cutie, but it's good that KitKat is keeping her chin up about the news. Cats are good like that, my dog will mope for days if I go out fishing all night and leave him "alone."

Well, off to reload and shoot the "stuff"

Not necessarily, for those of us in Utah. We have a state holiday, the 24th of July, to celebrate the settling of the Salt Lake Valley by the pioneers. There aren't nearly as many big fireworks shows, but plenty of small fireworks can be found. July is practically fireworks month.

I went to the National Mall last night for the fireworks - I was just to the west of the Washington Monument. The fireworks display was quite impressive this year; the crowding in Foggy Bottom Metro station less so.

I watched the city fireworks in the park largely by accident - I went there to talk to people and ended up sitting on the other side of a tree from the fireworks. The ones worth seeing made it above the tree, luckily, but there weren't many. Smaller towns always seem to have better fireworks, anyway...

I celebrated the 4th by reading the newspaper. Try it - it's actually very fitting.

Way to pull things out of context, Ash.

I didn't see any fireworks. I was at my grandparent's house, 33 miles from any substantial city, and my grandpa doesn't like fireworks because of the danger of starting a fire. So I'll have to live with that.

I'm currently over in western Oregon, headed to the ocean tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to that. Wish me luck.

I remember last Guy Falks (Our big fireworks event) me and a bunch of mates went to the beach and opened up one of those big fireworks that shoots like 50 little balls and put individual fuses in each one and had our own little war. It was funny to be sitting around thinking yourself safe only to see a flaming stick fly over and shoot at you. Someone got hit in the head from 1 metre and got knocked over. Ah the fun.
