Voila. My first post will probably remain forever, unless the tech forum gets pruned. Incidentally, I *did* switch to XP, as I said. A year later. Avernum 3, however, started working a few weeks after I had become solidly entrenched in this community. Yeah, my first post was on the topic "If Magic is your Crutch" in BoE which just *barely* got deleted in PPP2. Has anyone ever but up those files on the Internet yet? My first post was some frivolous post in the GF2 forum when I was desperate for aid and hit upon the forums as a likely source. Then I noticed General and had a look around, and the rest is history. I don't remember whether I had a beard or moustache back then. Certainly neither was quite as well-developed and impressive as they are now. I didn't have the hat back then, either. My first post was some small question about Geneforge, gamewise. I think it took around 15 minutes to write because I wanted to be sure I didn't sound like an absolut, idiotic n00b.
