Well, I needed a pseudonym because it seemed like the cool BoE designers all had one. I hate coming up with names, so I just used one from a story I had written once.

The funny thing is that the Kelandon in that story really is nothing like me and I don't much identify with him. He was just the most major character with a not-normal name.

Years earlier, I made the name by taking the normal name Landon (as in Landon Donovan, who was in the news at the time) and sticking a "ke" on the front of it. Hence it is prounced exactly like that, stressed on the second syllable, not the first.

...I actually have no idea where Imban comes from. I picked this name for myself more than seven years ago.

EDIT: It is a legitimate English word, though, meaning "to place under a ban". My Spidweb profile beats out all dictionary entries, however, if you search for Imban on Google.

"Stughalf" came, like Kelandon's moniker, from a story, one that I wrote around ten years ago. He was the main character from the story, but I didn't really identify with him either, as he was a fairly bland archetypal hero character. When I first began messing about on the internet and started needing aliases and monikers, I wanted a name that was concise and purely original. Stughalf seemed like the most likely choice, so I settled on it for good.

I picked this name because of a story I wrote, though it is not an actual name from the story.

It was random like many things.

Well not really. It is a reference to the Better Battle Butter Book by Dr. Seuss. Do you

I got mine because just "ben" (of course) was already taken on MSN Gaming Zone, so ben4808 was one of the only 4-digit suffixes left to put after it, and, since it was a suggestion, I took it. And stuck with it when I came here. So.

Of course, by moniker right now, ben2, was a product of the same thing. I was going to take just "ben", but somebody (who would be so mean  ) already has it. So I did ben2 since that's what I usually name all my files, like if I already have an Untitled, I just go Untitled2. :P

I didn't feel like giving up my real name when I was little, so I just made something up. Whoo, alliteration.

My name makes a reference to Spiderweb. And I live not "here" with the majority but "there" in Europe. I also like words with more than one significance.

My original one was "Slasher", which was what I refered to myself in many online games like Starcraft and Warcraft. The current one I have "The Holy Toenail" was something my friend did for an English paper, which of course he got a big fat F on.

Arancaytar came from a series of fantasy stories (daydreams is more like it) I made up around three years ago.

And my present name comes from a very weird spam mail sent out by, afaik, some "Hare Krishna" group or something. GOURANGA GOURANGA!!! :P

I got my name, as I get so many names, by hitting keys on the keyboard and then adding or subtracting letters to taste. I'm not really an angel.

I'm 27. There are thousands of Andrew Miller's out there, and hundreds of Andrew Robert Miller's. If you try to google me, you won't find me. Somehow, I don't feel as though I'm at risk. :)

I've been using my given name (when I can; frequently, "Andrew Miller" is already taken) in fora ever since I joined a student forum at my university. People on that forum would use the option of anonymity to rant about the university and particular students there they didn't like - things they wouldn't ever say in person or if their identities were known. I thought that was pretty lame, so I decided I would use my real name in order to demonstrate integrity.

Maybe that's a little pompous of me. Also, given that my name is effectively anonymous anyway, perhaps the point is lost...

For my first account I also used my given name, the name on this account was first a CB handle I chose for myself when Gremlins was fairly new, and I picked Mynt Cioccolatta as a new moniker to post on other boards in secret. It was short lived because I stuipidly made people want to know who I was.

*kicks self for being stupid*

Cioccolatta is 'chocolate' in Itialian and mint patties are my favorite kind of chocolate add the misspelling for asthetic(sp?) beauty and that's how I got it. My moniker at polaris came from the 'Let's play a game' forum where I picked "My name is not important." Nobody guessed who I was so I kept it but made an 'important' change to "MY Name is not importanT" to make it more obvious to at least those who knew I was Mynt.

Nah, I can see where you're coming from. A few students from my course set up a forum which basically existed for the purpose of mounting email harassment campaigns against fellow students who were seen as annoying in some way. Fortunately, it essentially died off when the chief offenders got bored.

As for my name, well, long, long ago I was known on Aceron's forum as LRTDeM (this name was taken from the initials of my real name, of which I have five; the E was for pronouncibility). The renaming came a few years back; I used "Thuryl" as the name of an RP character on a forum about three degrees of separation from the SW community, and the name stuck.
