These are not operating systems, they are platforms.

Richard Burbage was an Elizabethan Actor who is primarily famous for having been the lead actor in Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Although actors were not considered part of high society in those days, they were still subject to the laws of mass hysteria, and therefore would commonly have a following of love-stricken groupies to attend to them.

Mr. Burbage had come into the company of the "Wife of a citizen," meaning someone of reasonably high social class. She had made arrangments with him to come to her house on a day that her husband was not to be home so that they might have an assignation. This woman was a bit on the romantic side, as followers of actors commonly are, and wished to devise a sort of code that would let her know when he had arrived. They agreed that, upon reaching her house, he would have the servants bring her the message "Richard III has arrived," because this event had occured at the time when "Richard III" was running at the Globe. Our friend Shakespeare overheard this conversation, owing in great part to the Globe serving as living quarters for him most of the time, and decided that it would be fun to play a joke. Shakespeare arrived at the woman's house before Burbage, and sent the message that "Richard III has arrived." Although we cannot make any inferences about the character of said woman, suffice it to say that she was as impressed with Shakespeare as she had been with Burbage. When Burbage arrived, Shakespeare was in the act with the woman; Burbage sent up the message, "Richard III has arrived," and the servant brought it up. This would have been a rather awkard situation for the servant; he was ordered to return another message:

"William the Conqueror came before Richard III".

The sole reason I can think of for choosing a PC over a Mac is the sheer dominance in numbers of programs available for Windows over programs for the Mac. And although that's apparently a good enough reason for the vast majority of consumers, it's not quite a good enough one for me. I was brought up using Macs, have used them for the entirety of my young life, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

EDIT: v Very interesting, Alo. In fact, I use OS 9 as well, although I do plan to get X at some point in the future.

Mac for me. I've been using Macs since Mac OS existed, and I'm too old and set in my ways to change now. I also have real problems with windows, but that's just me.

—Alorael, who is still using Mac OS 9, actually. He's too set in his ways to switch to X. Well, that and he has very few OS X native programs.

I don't think I've ever heard of XP office, unless it's the suite. But then it wouldn't be an OS.

Win XP Pro for me.

I use Windows XP (I like it and Windows 98SE the best) and am thus contractually obligated to hate Macs. IMAGE(Which operating system do you use_files/tongue.gif)

Actually, I just find that there's more and generally better software for the things I typically do available for PCs.

I'm using Windows XP.

Microsoft needs to recognize that user-friendly does not equal beginner-friendly. If windows degenerates further the next version will have video-clips showing you how to push the start button (featuring Jar-Jar Binks as the Paperclip).

I use Windows XP, but it aggravates me how it doesn't show you how to do things you need to do. And it crashes on me quite a bit, which leads me to believe my computer knows I'm not too fond of Windows. Next computer will be a Mac.

I cant believe any of you use XP, unless you like your OS sending emails to Microsoft about what you do online etc. Windows 98 rules! (Windoes 95 is good 2 but not much programs surport it anymore) dos is good 2 (if you have a 1Mhz XT mu ha ha)I learned how to use a computer on a MAc LC2 so I like macs as well. GET RID OF XP (espicaily if you: like child porn(EIKA!) or use pirted programs or just hate Microsoft >8) )

"'We appreciate your acquiesence,' they said. And that was that. Sarcasm is lost on that lot." He kicks a wall in irritation.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
