Common language, common heritage, and the fact that we're unspeakably jealous of British accents. —Alorael, who would really like to know why one would revive a long dead topic that never had much of a point in the first place. There's nothing stopping you from doing it except your fear of pain. I have a question. When you have reflexes, why can't you stop them with brain commands? I mean, the reflexes come from your spinal cord so the motor command would reach the muscle faster but can't the brain override the command? Also, does your calculator compute 35+78*3 to be 35+(78*3) or (35+78)*3? -------------------- How do signature's work? -Keep Posts: 1415 | Registered: Thursday, March 27 2003 08:00 |

There are voluntary and involuntary reflexes. You can stop your eyes from blinking, but not your heart from beating (although certain buddhists would disagree). The two are handled by different regions of the brain, thus making it (nearly) impossible for you to control them. As for the calculator question, it depends on your calculator. If you have a scientific calculator, it will be 35+(78*3), if you have a Casio calculator watch, it'll be the incorrect way. Does anyone know any interesting facts about James K. Polk? I'm familiar with his major accomplishments, but i'm looking for quirks, odd habits, dirty laundry, etc. -------------------- ... Posts: 647 | Registered: Wednesday, February 19 2003 08:00 |

Several billion years ago, a large rock slammed the hell out of the Earth. A large portion of the Earth broke off, and eventually, due to gravity, both hunks of rocks became spheres.
