“As you can see” Said Jeran, relaxing somewhat into the monolog “My physique is unique among men. My colouration is an unknown and my bone structure is markedly lighter and stronger then most humans. I am also innately skilled with forging and blade-mastery. I have survived in the wilds for years before starting my journey and as far as I can tell, have the ability to absorb and release naturally occurring magic on command”

He pondered for a few seconds, wondering whether or not to tell Ivanhoe just how far the ability extended and its most recent repercussion. He decided against it.

“What of your weapon?” Inquired Ivanhoe, staring at the Ravvijac lesser with interest.

“The original Ravvijac I, or rather I though possible divine intervention forged from a quantity of powerful magical ore which I and some others had stolen from the Anama sometime before my self-imposed exile; it seems to posses some kind of magical absorption field much like my own body does. Over the years it absorbed enough to actually gain a rudimentary awareness of its own, allowing me to draw upon its power when I need to bolster my own defences”

“That probably explains why it was taken in the first place” mused Ivanhoe “A weapon such as that might even have been capable of injuring a god, no wonder he took it”

“I just want it back” Snapped Jeran standing upright, annoyed once more “I’ve said my bit”

The new blade gleamed in his eyes, sparks shot out from the hilt into his fingers as they closed around it. Jeran lifted the resurrected weapon over his head and knew in an instant that he had found himself again. Yet there was still a lingering emptiness, a hunger, regret. This weapon was magnificent indeed, yet it was still hollow compared to Ravvijac.

My weapon forged by the gods! No wonder then that parting with it is so painful, such a weapon must even posses a rudimentary awareness of its own to have been in the presence of such beings!

The thoughts raced through his mind, yet he stilled them. He turned to his companions; everything seemed different now, or rather the same. Things moved ever so slightly slower, as if he was operating under a very light hasting spell. Also his vision was more acute and perceptive, he could see spiders moving on the edge of his vision as clearly as if he was directing his full attention to them, and he no longer felt the gnawing fatigue he had been experiencing since his rescue.

“Gentlemen” he said, feeling rather more rational now he had his grip on a proper weapon “It seems to me that before we do anything, we prepare. We need to take stock of our abilities, strategy and supplies. Also I think we need to know exactly what it is we intend to do, I don't intend to just rush off on some revenge-inspired quest that will get us all killed"

Jeran laughed under his breath, still trying vaguely to get a grip on himself. Now that the adrenaline had worn off he felt exhausted again. Leaving Ivanhoe to his own ends for a second he slumped into one of the nearby chairs, drew his weapon and began polishing it. It was the equivalent of a warm bath to his senses as he drew the cloth rhythmically along the blade; unfortunately the act still felt hollow. It being only a normal sword, not his beloved Ravvijac

He finished the reverent act and carefully swung the great-sword over the back of the seat within easy reach and stood up, ignoring his protesting muscles.

“Dazzle” He said to the Lich who had been waiting for both to recover “Why did you save us?”

“Why did you stand against Ahonar? You knew you had no chance”

“I’m stupid sometimes, and besides it seemed like a good idea at the time”

“You intrigue me, your attitude towards existence is nothing short of uncaring and foolhardy, yet you seem to survive against tremendous odds”

“Do I look like someone who gives up?” Jeran retorted, “And I don’t suppose you managed to find my real sword did you?”

“Unfortunately not, I would imagine it is in the hands of the Ahonar by now”

Dazzle waited for a minute or two until Jeran managed to run out of interesting ways to describe the demi-god. For a person who had spent most of his life in a forest eating things with more legs then teeth he had a surprisingly effective grasp of unholy language.

“…But I would assume that they will be hesitant to destroy such a weapon. It would be highly unlikely that a weapon they themselves created the components for would be consigned to the purity furnaces”

“I should hope not!” Snarled Jeran “That weapon was the only one of its kind, I spent almost a year on the thing! I need that blade!”

Dazzle waited another few seconds before Jeran ran out of exclamation marks then spoke as calmly as it was possible for a creature held together by necromancy.

“This is not the time for anger my friend” He said soothingly “right now we can only plan, even if you discovered exactly were your weapon lay Ahonar would undoubtedly discover you. For all you know it could easily be he took it to lure you away from this hiding place”

Jeran almost spat, but remembered were he was just in time. “Your logic makes sense. Oh well, I suppose we’d better see how Ivanhoe is, if we’re going to do anything we’ll need his help”

Gee. I feel so grateful. He buzzes off for several days without even an FYT to his name then leaves me out in the plains while he jumps forward about a week. So much for jubilent expectations  and I don't think as a great leader a small darkmatter explosion that wiped out his greatest enemies from a horrifically dire situation even interests Ivanhoe. Double  with knobs on.

EDDDDIT: Posted was made in the heat of the moment I forgot Azuma's part. While I am still seriously annoyed at Ivanhoes lack of interest I certainly hope Azume, who has displayed remarkable skill thus far will be more effective, having a better realationship with my character.

PS:

Just in case there is a question, Dikiyoba is not some freakin' sauceress who can make things appear out of thin air. My post was always there, and it was your weak internets which couldn't deal with its superior coding. Yeah.

This must be preserved

If UBB ever dies or Jeff decides to get rid of the forums, we could just have a bot or a few ambitious members transfer the active topics from the archives to the new boards and the community could continue almost uninterrupted. Should one of those situations arise, I'm pretty sure Jeff would be willing to take the time to change the Forums link on his page to say "Here's where our fans tend to hang out."

I could create a forum. But I could never get it looking exactly like UBB. But I'd be happy to help out any other way I can. I STRONGLY second this notion.
