I'm not sure I understand the part about the A3 graphics having more variety.

Couldn't have said it better. Beware, spoilers ahead.

My main issue with A4 is that it has utter predictability in plotline. Yes, it follows logically from A3, but too logically. At least in A3 we didn't know the Vahnatai did it until later in the game. This was the "big surprise" in the game.

A4 has no mistery. By the time we reach Formello, we have a pretty good idea what is going on and who is behind it all. Motrax's Lair pretty much confirms it and seeing that good old Rentar is behind everything is not a leap of imagination at all.

Ironically, when I said this to Jeff he reacted quite offensively to any challenge in his paradigm.

Pity, because there were so many avenues to persue such as the Slith Wars with real motivations other than they are evil and savage. The Darkside Loyalists worked quite well and had more focus been on them all the better. Betrayal by a powerful wizard, unconstrained ancient Vahnatai magic, some new ominous threat, etc. could have been potential avenues. However, Jeff picks 'Kill Rentar' which is the most obvious and storyline that has been the butt of so many joke BoE scenarios.

Not to say A4 is all bad; there are good parts, but plot is not one of them.

Well, the Blades designing community has the chatroom at the Lyceum. I'd presume everyone with Spiderweb related topics is welcome to use it.

Movie Trivia Challenge: ROUND IX in General

The game is played as follows: two actors are given and must be connected through appearances in television shows or movies. The object is to connect the two actors with the fewest connections possible. Please READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING, KEY RULES HAVE BEEN PUT IN BOLD!

ROUND VIII

Richard Pryor to Don Adams

Set point value = 10

Some rules:

1) You may only post a connection of an actor to a movie/TV show already established in the list. For instance, you may say "Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump" only if either Tom Hanks or Forrest Gump have been previously mentioned.

2) Posts should be in the form of: "actor" in "movie/television show" format. Do NOT do "actor X to actor Y in movie A". This keeps the game so others can participate.

3a) You may only post ONE connection every three hours. After posting your connection, you must wait for three hours unless the connection has been established.

3b) You may NOT double post. This is to prevent people from getting too far ahead as is the case now.

3c) You may NOT edit your posts once they are made.

4) Once the actors are connected, you may post a list of all the connections regardless of any previous rules. The next round will begin in ~24 hours (at the discretion of the administrator) after the original connection is established.

5) During the ~24 hour period after the original chain, a shorter connection may try to be established. Should one be established, the one who establishes it (and any others who may help) will receive half points for each link they provided. All those who participated in the original chain will still receive full points. If participation is good, 3 points will be awarded for each unused connection.

6) You may only use movie appearances or TV show appearances. The exception are TV shows which regularly have guest appearances as part of the show (Saturday Night Live, Jay Leno, etc.). However, a guest appearance on, say, M*A*S*H* would be acceptable.

7) You may NOT use cartoon voices, directing/production roles. The actor must have actually appeared in the movie to be valid.

8) You may NOT use IMDB or any other refererence/database to assist you. There is no way to enforce this, but let's keep the game honest.

Points are awarded for each person having a piece of the shortest connection. The number of points awarded are given in each round.

The winner and possibly runners up will be granted a custom title. Even if you do not know a lot of movies, feel free to post what you know.

For reference:

Round I
Round II
Round III
Round IV
Round V
Round VI
Round VII
Round VIII

I'd be fine with that. Lighting is a nice tool to set the atmosphere and can be used very effectively, but having the player cast a bunch of light spells all the time is a bit annoying. So I agree, in certain restricted areas, using light would be wonderful.

Yeah, if this were the ONLY thing he rationalized. Unfortunately, Jeff has a tired and predictable pattern that he's fallen into. At least he provided a paper thin explanation, but still, I felt the pylon is sheer laziness. Rather than making a real means of escape, Jeff resorts to authorial magic to do his dirty work...same complaint I have in A3.

Yes, the Infernal Shroud is great, but seriously, Jeff could have put it anywhere.

Athron's lair was horribly weak in terms of what it used to be. It's just one big room with a demon. I was hoping for something a little more exciting than that. It's as if Jeff got tired of doing a real dungeon and just made a room with a bunch of treasure...

She didn't have any trouble escaping the first time you fight her/it. Rentar is strong enough on her own to teleport away, she is after all, the most powerful Vahnatai wizard. The pylon is just there so Jeff can end the game...pity too, I would have preferred a more A1/A2 style of "ending".

You need to kill the Metris Undead first that way he believes you to be worthy of the task. What's inside is pretty disappointing to say the least.
