I seem to recall some text stating that they had tried to waylay an apprentice previous to you in Geneforge. I could be wrong, it has been a long time.

Goettsch from G1 was also an apprentice who had the misfortune of washing ashore. He was not yet a full shaper, but the canisters made him so.

With this in mind, the fact that Monach uses a control rod to control his creations, which is seen as a very crude way to do business by all of the full shapers around, leads me to believe that this could in fact, be plausable. Using a control rod is something that an apprentice might do, and Goettsch was probably exposed to 'older technology' when trapped on the island.

Because there are 33 rolls involved, the lowest and highest parts of that range will occur extremely rarely.

That's against an enemy with no magic resistance.

I suspect that whoever was talking about 300-400 damage output -- and it was probably Delicious Vlish -- was talking about damage per turn when hasted.

Yes. That is called a damage spread. I refere to it many times. How much output per turn.

When I do say per shot, I usually try to make a mention for one shot.

Damage spreads reflect your potential damage output per turn.

Find a target weak against magic damage. There will be moments your mighty essence orbs will only do one measly point of damage. At other times, maybe 150 or so.

Every now and then, when properly blessed and buffed, and facing the right sort of foe, you cause great pain. :D

Glaahks always made me shiver for some odd reason. They weirded me out.

Glaahks even walk the same way as the vagina scorpion in the movie. That same wobbly walk. And attack the same way.

It has been driving me nuts for YEARS trying to figure out why Glaahks made me feel so uneasy and weirded out.

I'm glad I tore down the wall and exposed the mystery.

They must have taken Jeff's marbles away. Crazy... Toys in the attic crazy...

Damn, all the drugs made it really hard to remember.

Jeff, I salute you. Glaahks are nothing more than the vagina scorpion from The Wall.

What a bad trip this has been.

Shock Trooper - Part II in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

My 2.0 Shock Trooper that I took completely through the game was missile based. Shaper aligned.

I had a Warrior as well... And sadly, the Warrior was MILES ahead of the Shock Trooper. But I can't say why for sure.

My Shock Trooper had Fire, Battle, and Magic shaping all raised to six and used items to boost creations levels when creating. Hey, cheap skills, you should use them... Right? RIGHT? WRONG.

My Warrior mostly used items to shape the higher level creations like Wingbolts and stuff... And all those skill points were better spent in other places.

My Shock Trooper didn't have enough strength or dexterity. Had to keep pumping int to make sure I had enough essence to create and heal my army. With about 10 in to int, I barely had enough essence to create a Cryodryak, a dryak, and a few wingbolts. Endurance was pathetic. Skills were spread to thin.

Essence pods?

What are those?

I just kept casting till I ran out of energy. Then I stabbed stuff. Just because I could. And when I had energy again, I melted stuff with acid, froze it with ice, and burned it in to cinders. I don't need to hit and run with the absurd number of hit points I have. Shoot shoot shoot stab shoot shoot shoot stab.

HOGWASH.

The servile does not need to pump melee skills. He can neglect his physical stats for the time being. First thing I did with my red wizard project was crank mechanics to twelve and leadership to 8. All of my magic skills got attention too. And spare points were put in to int for more energy.

The servile is every bit as good as a caster as the infiltrator. More so even, because of the turtle mage effect. Turtles may be slow, but they last a long time.

The servile is to strong. Way to strong.

Give the shock trooper a massive bonus with exploding creations. Not that it would really do any good. Exploding creations are pretty much worthless and a danger to your self.

But you can hit the 10 cap just through items I believe. Lessee. Necklaces, some pants I believe, boots, a robe, and what else am I missing? A canister or two...

If you can hit the cap through items, why waste valuable skill points? You can't get those back.

You don't need any shaping skills at all. I keep telling you that.

2 points through items will get you wingbolts. You can make dryaks by just wearing items. Heck, by items alone you can bring fire shaping up by five or six points... Maybe more. Which with natural skill and a canister or two, brings you close to the 10 point cap.

So pumping your shaping skills is a worthless skill investment really, those points are better spent some place else. Like magic skills. Boosting your int. Ratcheting up your endurance.

A lot of the higher level creations in this game now resist strong daze or only stay dazed for a turn or two.

Madness charms, dazes, and causes all kinds of panic.

Face a SWARM of wingbolts with and without Mass Madness and then get back to me.

The thing is, you can add ZERO to melee weapon skills, rely on items, and with powerful blessing magic, do more damage with a sword than somebody that dumps 10 or 15 in to melee weapons.

There is something wrong there.

So, who is the scariest foe? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

For me, it was during the beta. I had been awake for a long time. (Insomnia) I had received the quest to go in to the wrecked lab and fetch items. I hadn't yet seen the hatch in the Golem's fen.

So I stumbled around carefully till I found it and went down the stairs. **Que spooky music**

So, I noticed, it was dark. DARK. I was a bit loopy from sleep deprivation. And it was dark. Here I was in a dark hole with a couple of cryoas and a few vlish, and suddenly there was one of those rotterthingamajigs tearing around the corner at me.

Somehow, the overall effect was rather good. I was instantly and totally awake. I had a quiver in my leg from adrenal response.

It was an odd moment as I realised, well, a surealistic moment, but at that moment I realised that I, the game player, was having the same sort of reaction as the character in the game was having at some rotting acid dripping goo encrusted zombie coming around the corner.

Some times Jeff does a little to good of a job on atmosphere.
