I don't know what numbers these are: In Geneforge games, people sleep standing up. There are chairs, but no one sits on them. No matter what gender your character is, it screams like a man when it dies. No matter how many creatures you have, you never need a pooper scooper. Leash laws don't apply to you either. quote:Allow me to suggest that instead of putting up the script as a text file to be downloaded by browser, you bzip it or some such and include checksums. This is because that browser downloads tend to add carriage returns or linefeeds in all the wrong places, and may munge high-ascii characters and generally play havoc with scripts. I realize that you have done the community a huge favor by writing the script, and you don't really owe us a release-quality piece of code. But it might make everyone happier if you packed it up more soundly. Posts: 8 | Registered: Wednesday, June 29 2005 07:00 |

quote:Well, I don't find it weird. This is because drayks are so incredibly cool. Games that stick to their internal lore to the point where you can't have any fun are a bummer. Believe me, I've played some. Posts: 8 | Registered: Wednesday, June 29 2005 07:00 |

I played one of the Avernum games. It was fun for a bit, but one of the things that turned me off is how gross most of the monsters were. I was battling giant roaches and oozing things all the time. Ok, there are oozing things in Geneforge, but at least no roaches. Of course, I realize that some people might enjoy stomping huge roaches. De Gustibus non disputandum est. I would like to put together a cannister inventory. This way you could only use the ones you really need and avoid the rest. This information is not in the hint book (highly recommended), or I would just look there. Anyone got any notes about cannisters? I'll try and jot something down next time I play. Now that I can command-tab on a Mac, this should be easier. Posts: 8 | Registered: Wednesday, June 29 2005 07:00 |

I think one of the tricky bits of the Geneforge series is that all sides are equally obnoxious. I find myself wanting to do the opposite anyone tells me to do, no matter who they are. I'm not sure if this is just Jeff's writing style, or if it's something inherent to the nature of the world and story. Shapers have lots of power, and are bureaucratic and arrogant. Rebels have used a lot of the cannisters and are mutated and arrogant. Just remember that you can replay the game as many times as you like. I played GF3 part way through, then started over again when my hint book showed up. BTW, I recommend the hint book highly. You can read only the hints you want, or only look at the maps, or whatever. Also, it means more money to Jeff and company. Posts: 8 | Registered: Wednesday, June 29 2005 07:00 |

I believe that leadership skills help you deal with sticky situations. I use all the cannisters I can get, and I've been all over Dhonal's island, and no shaper types have attacked me (though the game does say that I get angry at people sometimes). Generally, if you want to be able to talk your way out of fighting, up your leadership. Otherwise wade in and kill them all. Posts: 8 | Registered: Wednesday, June 29 2005 07:00 |
