Screw it, I can't be bothered. It wasn't that good an interview anyway.

However, I went to hear him speak last night, and that was awesome. He was very funny, and towards the end, even came close to getting a teary eye out of me. Not quite, but it was a close thing. Let me tell you, that story would make an incredibly good movie.

Don't get me wrong, I give full credit to Wonko. It's a cool idea, and I'd love to play a scenario with it. But one cool idea doesn't make you a "Resident Genius".

While it's a good idea for sure, that might be a bit premature. Drizzt, for example, did teleportation (though by a completely different mechanism) ages ago in Shadow Of The Stranger.

EDIT: The technique may be of more use in an all-towns scenario, by the way. With the caveat that I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about (as I have demonstrated in embarassing fashion recently), I think stairway nodes can only be called in towns. You could even use it at one point to get into the gremlins' cave/hideout/whatever when the door's locked and barred. :)

Revenge's fatigue system used a similar "special called every step" trick, so it shouldn't cause issues.

The concept of a "reward" is a bad one in game design, I think. If your scenario is so boring that you have to give the player rewards for playing it, well, you have bigger issues than deciding what the reward should be.

In short, the scenario should be its own reward. Regardless of whether the fun comes from flashy cutscenes, fun combat, a good story, a mix of them all, or something else entirely, as long as it's fun to play, you're set.

Stareye is some kind of noble gas, possibly Argon.
