Personally, I agree that Jesus is excessively fattening. Blessing 4 is really only useful at level 3 (which you will deeply desire when you wander through the Lava Ocean). I might change the way it functions accordingly. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I've been playing this thing with low levels of all of those spells (not enough Arcane Shield to get invulnerability, not enough Control Foes to have any effect on the monsters), which must be the reason for my different outcomes. I never got hostile spells 17 and 18 to do much for me, but I kept ramping up their power every few dungeons, so maybe they're strong enough now to be good. I did make pretty serious use of spell 15, once I got it. I'm suspecting that spell 14, which is only available very late in the scenario, will be pretty seriously a fight-ender. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. The obvious first place to look. I'm inclined to accept the figures that put full-on gay people at about 2-4% of the population. These things are very hard to survey, because it's very hard to put a good definition on "being homosexual," and it's also pretty hard to get people to be honest about it, but if we define homosexuals as people who engage almost exclusively in same-sex relations (whether dating, sex, or otherwise), I'm inclined to believe the "rather less than 10%" figures. As an interesting side-note to all of this, I read in the SF Chronicle once that gay men make about as much money per capita as straight men, and lesbians make about as much money per capita as straight women. Because women, on average, make less money than men, gay male partners actually have slightly higher combined incomes than opposite-sex partners, and lesbians have somewhat less than average. This is beginning to have some strange economic consequences (businesses catering toward gay men but not gay women, for example). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. There are economic and diplomatic advantages to foreign aid above and beyond the fact that it's morally pleasing. I do hold that the government is not really in the business of legislating morality per se, and I can justify foreign aid despite this. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. As far as I can tell, terrains 172 and 173 (in addition to being mis-named) default to not showing up on the automap. I tried to add the line te_draw_on_automap = 1; but this did not seem to help. Their graphics are properly set. Can anyone figure out what the problem with these terrains is? -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. What's unfortunate, really, is that I can't recall any conservative politician in the U.S. ever espousing the view that Ash seems to hold. It's one that I feel that I can work with, even if I may not entirely agree with it on all points. Most politicians in America who oppose gay marriage tend to do so in a manner that resembles Paul the second. I can't speak with knowledge of how this issue is discussed in other countries, but over here, opponents of gay marriage tend to argue on the basis of bigoted and frequently circular reasons. quote:Well, you can't just keep running from them. You do stall them a little bit. Then you run. My main point was just that you shouldn't try to kill all of them in the allotted time (which is what Kass tells you, anyway). quote:As I noted over e-mail, I'm going to change the shops so that this will be less of an issue. Also, there are a few items (if you can find them) that help with this. Really, the key is to run away. Not all of the fights are meant to be won. Seriously, don't try to fight these fights with just blessing, hasting, and trying to kill everything. That will get you in trouble. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! Hi, everyone, I just realized that I'm an idiot and forgot to convert the graphics. Windows users won't be able to play until I (or some friendly Mac tester) does so. I just sent the beta to the following people: Homey Maigre rakshasi Universe_JDJ Arancaytar Nikki Niemand I'm holding the remaining testers in wait for fresh eyes on a more polished product. People can feel free to continue to sign up, and I might stagger in others as time goes by, possibly within the next few days or the next week or so. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. The worst plots I've ever seen have been mysterious and interesting at first, with a lot of questions that seem exciting and worth answering, that then give completely vacuous or unsatisfying answers (to take a very mild example, VoDT). The graphics must be passable but prone to baneful problems, as Alorael said; I had in mind that certain areas would be blocked from view arbitrarily, as one can do with inopportune heights in BoA. Infrequent random errors are the key to just about everything else. Occasionally scatter the screen with graphical glitches. Occasionally make the sound cut out and then come back on twice as loud as it ought to be. Corrupting save files is a must. All of these errors need to be rare enough that the player doesn't expect them, but often enough that the player encounters them at least a couple times per game. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. That was our point: the "standard English haiku" is not necessarily 5-7-5.
