IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A DEATHMATCH IS, FOLLOW THE FLIPPIN' LINKS. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WILL BE IMPLEMENTED HERE, READ MY FIRST POST. YES, THE WHOLE THING. EVERY LAST FLIPPIN' WORD. IF YOU SKIM IT, IT WILL BE CONFUSING. AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, I WILL EXPLAIN THE RULES AGAIN IN SIMPLER FORM, LATER TODAY. IF YOU'RE STILL CONFUSED, THEN WAIT FOR THAT. *takes a deep breath* My patience has worn thin, as Nioca had the misfortune of discovering last night. Salmon, thanks for your empathy. I'd never give up on the tournament, but I will be happy to summarily disqualify anyone who continues to be a nincompoop. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

You don't need a large investment to cast good spells at all, outside of Battle Magic. It is comparably large compared to the investment needed in shaping, though, since that is practically nothing. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

If you correct someone (incorrectly) about something you wouldn't have any way of knowing, they're bound to get annoyed. Get over it. Muffin's writing reminds me of Argh's. Genuine, but pre-eminently impulsive. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

No, it's certainly not. Why in the world do you people try to correct others when you don't even know what they're talking about? I'm fed up with all these freakin' n---s. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

You do realize also that stunning is completely different in G4, and that it's quite difficult to use it effectively as a tactic in itself? -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Well Synergy, I at least salute you for using italics for an embedded quote. The world would be a better place if we all did that! The final roster is now set. I ended up tossing all three of the entries I wasn't sure about, and reinserting MM (at his suggestion) and Magma Dragoon, because he is actually the least publicly cardboard of the bunch. I'm now getting together the graphics setup and the rules. Expect to see a main tournament topic tonight or tomorrow, and a round one part one poll/topic tomorrow or sunday. The main topic will explain the rules somewhat more clearly, for those of you that are confused and can't be bothered to follow my links. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Yes, Inspector Walnut is from the scripts. Nobody else got to dictate how they would be characterized, so frankly, I suggest you get over it. Edit: MM, do you want to be in it? If you do, I'd be happy to replace one of those three with you and make the choice simpler for me, but it sounded like you'd prefer to be out. Just let me know. I would imagine all stick figures are legit. Your advantage, Alex, I think comes not from monstrous stick figures (as most participants have weapons or spells that would wipe them away) but in the element of surprise and/or mindblowingness. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

VCR's are pretty much plug and play, which strikes me as an extremely poor analogy for BoA scenario creation. I suspect there's a good analogy here involving vi, emacs, and pico, but I'm not going to make it... -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Scorpius, Lone Flame, and Fatman: one of these three needs to go. Scorpius and Lone Flame I don't know much about. Fatman is colorful but I'm not really sure how he would translate into deathmatch world. Suggestions on all three or who to cut are welcome. Status update: I'm currently working on the art and the, um, accessories to the tournament. This thing is becoming a GARGANTUAN waste of time for me. (Every so often, in my life, I need something like that... kind of an episodic obsessive-compulsiveness I suppose.) But anyway, it will be cool, and I'll put together the first round when I finish. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Muffin and Nalyd, to clarify: you do not get to spontaneously make up powers for this thing. Nobody does. You have the powers you have appropriated elsewhere, either from the scripts or from direct transfiguration of your actions and reputation here into some kind of power. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Actually, I want to second that, though I wouldn't call it crude humor. There were a lot of GREAT sets of dialogue with different livestock, cats, and so on, throughout Exile and also, I think, Nethergate. I miss those details. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Dintiradan, alchemy was actually your main function in the earlier scripts. Just think of it as a bonus. Or, alternately, as your official Evil Overlord Hideously Embarassing Secret. As for Scorpius, yes, what about him? -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

The majority, but not all of them. Khyryk certainly has some quality time with him, and doesn't say anything about him looking foreign, despite spouting off about Monarch for some time. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Your conclusions sound like they make sense, but I'd caution leaning on that data too much anyway. Your Nethergate FAQ was completed in early 2002, which was a few years after Nethergate's release -- so the FAQ missed the prime time for hits. However, the fact that Avernum 4 seems not to have dropped off in pace very much at all after almost a year and a half, now that says something. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |
