For those who haven't seen Jeff's planned release of Blades of Exile source code, he has once again done what he has said he wasn't planning to do. Any guesses on the next change?

Exile 4, on line gaming, a new genre ...

I think Jeff will create a new series; once he makes A5 and G5 he'll probably be sick of them.

Wasn't Jeff saying for quite some time that he had decided to release the BoE code, but wasn't able to yet?

He mentioned he was considering it early on, I think when information about N:R was first released.

I think he actually said that he was going to release the source code, but that he had it on a hard drive somewhere and had to find it first.

So. Nethergate 1.5, Avernum 5, BoE source released...

I suppose the MMORPG is not out of the question.

But I'm realizing that to Jeff, sometimes "can't do" actually does mean "can't do but would if possible". Especially when it's "can't do at the moment".

Which leads us to this.

It [writing a book about the history of this world] is one of those things I would love to do. The problem is time. Between the multiple games I'm working on, other projects, and raising a toddler, I just don't have time for a lot of things it would be really cool to do. Sorry!

Edit: Source. It's actually still around after almost 4 years.

I'm willing to put an MMORPG in the "won't ever do" category. Along with Blades of Geneforge. I mean, let's be mildly realistic here.

Why bother being realistic? BoG will be made. Eventually. When Jeff becomes fabulously rich and has a lot of time on his hands. Because he'll definitely still be making games then.

BoG... I'd buy it if it isn't as hard to script at BoA. and is as easy to work as BoE. If those were the cases, I'd even go out and get a job to get that game.

If Jeff does become fabulously rich, which I doubt will happen.

BoG will probably not be developed, after the performance of BoA.

Which is on one hand sad because BoA is the greatest under-achieving game I've ever seen since, perhaps ADOM, and it hurts to see it fall by the roadside like this.

On the other hand, it means BoA will not be abandoned by the designers for BoG, and as a consequence, I wouldn't need to look at the ugly GF interface to play sgood scenarios. Yes, I know, TM might gnaw his hands off rather than design for the Geneforge engine. But still.
