My thoughts exactly Man, it is still a somewhat legal binding. Even so, its more down to a matter of trust. I shouldn't (and don't) go and tell people about something that they don't have yet (in relation to betas). In the case of the windows version of BoA, I would be breaking my word to Jeff by discussing the windows version with any windows user, on the chance that they may buy the game. Jeff has put a game into my hands, an almost complete stranger's hands, and trusts that i unconditionally don't release information about that game.

I thought people understood all that...

I mean yes, the game is already out for macs, and the game will hardly change between versions, but i just won't do it...

>Edit: Sorry Drakeyfyre, didn't respond directly to your statement.

um, right. Only the Mac version has been released. The Windows version has yet to be released. Thus, any information about the windows version that i reveal - even if it is the same as the Mac version - is still from the Windows version. should i be treating the mac and win versions of the game as the same? maybe after both games have been released, but for the purposes of beta testing I treat it as its own, individual, unique game. or were you jesting, it is so hard to tell when you are...>

If anyone wants info on the game before it comes out for windows, just ask a mac user. they'll be the ones poking fun at the windows users who haven't got the latest game. should be more of them on the boards then pc users anyways.

Spoiler!!!! WATCH OUT! First scenario SERIOUS SPOILER!

Well, If you need to know ***exactly*** what you need to stop the chemicals or whatever they are from poisoning everything, you need to run into some...'aliens'...camped somewhere on the lower levels of the second part of the school. They should inform you what to get and where to get it. and what to do once you get them. hope this helps.

I can't quite figure this out. in Blades of Avernum

hint books...hmmm. I would only get it because I miss the days when some games (rpg, adventure, etc) came with a thick REAL manual, made up in the context of the game, that you could flick through for ages before even starting the game (thinking of the original BG). Now you get stupid pdf manuals on the cd, but nothing will ever beat the fact that you used to get more then just some cardboard and a cd when you purchased a decent game (off the shelf).

I suppose thats one reason why piracy is really up, cause the games are all contained on that small digital format we know of as the cd. I mean, if shelf games still came out with manuals and stuff like that I personally would think about buying the better ones instead of just getting a friends copy.

Getting back to the point, I personally don't buy hintbooks, usually can figure the game out by myself. BUT there are people that enjoy playing games that unfortunately cannot figure out some of the more complex puzzles in games. Some people just aren't good at problem solving. its too bad, but the hintbook is there for those people.

In the case of BoA, i mean the scenarios aren't that difficult for me, but they very well could be difficult for other people. and those that dn't know how to open up the scenario and disect its inner workings.

Find a mac and download the mac demo, won't look that different to the windows one when it comes out...heheh

jk, but really, I would guess its built on Avernum 3, with some cool noticable changes, and ones you wouldn't notice. just ask some of the mac users to take some cool screenshots in-game for you, I don't think thats illegal...

Spoiler alert:

**********************************************************************, those are the best changes.

they shouldn't have ***********a*******
and******but*********and the********.

damn....NDA...gets you every time.

but be happy, compared to shelf games that get put back for months, even years on end, SW can't put a game back for too long, cause we would all revolt and stage a takeover of the company.

umm, yeah, I've been swimming round in the sewers too and can't find a way out...unless i put lots of points to lockpick and even then...

EDIT: Well I'm refering to the second scenario, the rebellion one. and I'm talking about falling down into the sewers after BIG BOOM, and LOTS OF BLOOD (not trying to spoil anything). and not being able to get out...

Bravo on including the windows file on the site.

Although I am still struggling through the windows beta testing and have so far not finished the scenarios that come with it, I will be sure to test it out at the end so i can give feedback to both u and Jeff on its workings...

...although thinking about it you probably already have done some sort of windows testing...

how that is possible...hmph...I'm lost.

anyways, looking forward to trying the scenario out.

I'm sure your computer aint THAT bad. I'm sure if you put together a good enough application form he'd (or others) would accept you. Same thing happened to me, I don't have that good a computer, but i think i wrote one mean application form and was accepted for beta testing g2, and hopefully i can do more. In the end your computer doesn't matter, its the way you present yourself in the application form.

try it next time, you never know...

Will a Geneforge 2 Win Beta Test Happen? in General

I did that ages ago, right after the Mac Beta Testing was announced, and he said it would be put up on the site like the mac one. I don't know whats happened since then, and anyways, I am likely to be asleep when it gets put up on the site (being from Australia), and thus the spots will be jumped on before i get the chance to even see the site...

It isn't much of a deal, but yeah. It would be nice...

Is a Geneforge 2 Windows Beta Test going to happen? It would be cool to be part of something like that...but unfortunatley i seem unable to get in quick enough to get into any beta tests...

Ok, this should be in the Geneforge 2 section, maybe, so i will widen the question...

what is the best way to get in to a Spiderweb Software Beta Test?
