Do you keep the original names, make up your own, stick in friends names, or names of people you'd love to meet in real life? I almost always replace the default names. Here's a few that I've used. I generally use characters from a story I wrote once. "Kelandon" actually comes from the same story, although the Kelandon character is little like me and is not the protagonist. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. If you mean for PCs, then I usually make them up, unless I've written something recently that deserves the names to be remembered. For NPCs, I've got a few that are people I know, but the majority are made up. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. For PC's, one character always has my real name. The others are sometimes named after someone, or are just made up. For NPC's, at least in tFS, about half the names of characters are people I know. The other half are whatever I can think up of. (I can't remember the names in my previous efforts too well.) I name PCs after characters from RPs I've been in; these names are usually made up based on nothing in particular and occasionally made up based on something in particular. NPCs get named after random people and organisations whose names sound cool; the protagonist in Roots was named after a physicist, and the antagonist was named after a real estate agency. Dikiyoba's current party members are named Warrior, Munchkin, Shaman, and Rogue. It's not very creative, but it works. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

My first-play team takes four of the names of the PCs from the second two Exile games... as well as are the main Characters in my Fanfic. Jenneke, Thissa, Adrianna, and Michael (all of whom were custom-classed to fit the character), to be specific. My latest team is meant to take on a scenario evaluation challenge that I've put myself up to (see link below, scenario rating section), and is comprised of Hasskaa, Claire, Hrrmrrrr, and Tullin. My god party is comprised of Sicarius and Grimm. I've also used names like Darrin, Maxor, Joven, Barbera, Kolx, Melbie, Dyde, Cyrn, and various others over the years. NPCs... of course, I make up my own names... Though I have been tempted to throw a couple of enemies into the ranks... -------------------- The Silent Assassin's party is made up of Grimm, Muerte, Mors Mortis, and Phil. I think he has some sort of death wish for our next door neighbor. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Ushmushmeifa: Lenar's power is almighty and ineffable. All hail lord Noric, god of... well, something important, I'm sure. Posts: 735 | Registered: Monday, January 16 2006 08:00 |

Well, I normally play a singleton named Tyran or Tyranicus, but when I do have a full party there is Tyran(icus), Echo, Thomys, and Ignus. The names are derived from 3 of my friends. We used to play D&D with those 4 characters. -------------------- "You're drinking liquor because you're thirsty? You play D&D! Ha! What a dork. :P When I don't use the prefab names, I usually have Kazan the Nephil, Andraste the human and a random slith. Sometimes Andraste is a slith but usually not. -------------------- You acquire an item: Radio Free Foil Posts: 1169 | Registered: Monday, September 23 2002 07:00 |

quote:I know you're kidding, but c'mon! Everyone should play D&D! My characters are usually named after FFT generic characters. I almost always name my Nephils after the monster generics, and the humans just have regular human names. Sliths vary a little more. -------------------- Do not provoke the turtles. Uhg, D&D... I just don't have the patience. I am thankful to whoever first thought it would be a good idea to just make RP computer games. D&D without all the boring. As for names, I do all kinds of things. I can make up decent names, I sometimes use names from other games, and I even use names from history. Can you guess which is which out of these three: Zhuge Liang, Kil'Jaeden, Gonekrigar. [ Tuesday, November 28, 2006 03:37: Message edited by: Emperor Tullegolar ] -------------------- You lose. I just use the default names. No reason, really; I just never bother to change them. -------------------- Either I'm crazy, or everybody else is nuts.
