Now I know Jeff has said before that he doesn't like to put music in his games. However, in A3 Erika's Tower had music, and Geneforge had lots of background sounds. Is there any chance we'll be able to have music in BoA? -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. We won't have music, but we may be able to choose ambient sounds. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Whether we want cave drips, birds chirping, town sounds, etc. It probably won't be possible to provide your own sounds, though. You'll just have to pick which of the ambient sounds already used in A3, maybe the ones from Geneforge (are there different sounds?), and possibly even some new ones. —Alorael, who doesn't think he'd want to download scenarios with dozens of megabytes of background music, and Spiderweb probably wouldn't want to have to store them or let people use lots of bandwidth downloading them. I just listen to cds and stuff. I change the song when I go to different places. I have a couple of video game mixes and some soundtracks that i like. for instance, in A2, I listened to "Chronopolis" whenever I was in the main caves. Which was a lot so it repeated a lot. But now whenever I hear the song by itself I think of A2. It was very accurate. I listen to "Gerudo Valley" if I'm on the surface in A3 and to a mix of the original Metroid theme if I'm in Upper Avernum. I listened to salsa music when i fought all those gremlins to get the rose :P I have songs for every occasion. I like picking my own. :) -------------------- -Daravon Posts: 104 | Registered: Friday, March 8 2002 08:00 |

Are you refering to the Gerudo Valley from Zelda: Ocarina of Time? I loved that song, but I think it suits a desert and not A3 outdoors. -------------------- …../|,-‘`¯¯`\(o)_\,----,,,_……… …( `\(o),,_/` ¯ : o : :: o`-, … I'm under your bed. Posts: 118 | Registered: Wednesday, April 2 2003 08:00 |

I definitely like Jeff's way of doing music better; having the player play his own CDs. -------------------- H-E-L-P. I think my alphabet soup is trying to tell me something. Posts: 87 | Registered: Sunday, April 13 2003 07:00 |

But when you play your own CDs, a lot of the time the music won't suit the setting. -------------------- "If you held a weapon to Fwiffo's head, he would say anything you wanted him to. The oldschool exile games had music... you just had to turn it on by yourself. I like just listening to music in the background though -------------------- jesus saves, all others take full damage Posts: 329 | Registered: Wednesday, February 13 2002 08:00 |

I do. Exile and Exile 2 had music. I'm not sure if they did on PC, but they did on Mac. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know of a site where I can get old game music from? Posts: 1918 | Registered: Sunday, October 13 2002 07:00 |

You could just download E1 and E2. I liked their music too. Jeff chose it well. You could probably put your own music in the data files, corresponding to whatever background sounds are there. Hey presto, you have your own personalised, and appropriate to settings, music. -------------------- Riot Shields Voodoo Economics It's just business Cattle prods And the IMF I trust I can rely on your vote Posts: 530 | Registered: Sunday, September 1 2002 07:00 |

Couldn't find it on the site Thuryl. However, I think Duel of Fates would work nicely as background music for Exile II. Timing might be a bit off but it is still very nice. I suppose listening to Britney Spears while playing Exile III dampened my opinion of the game. -------------------- Lt. I know that you can play music as you play the scenario's but I was thinking is it possible to script the music into the game from certain points, cause we all know that switching from music song to another is kind of annoying to do and very tedious.I have compiled massive piles of music to my games like for my still unfinished scenario( it is offically finished, but i'm waiting to publish it on BoA than BoE) and i really want to script it into the game, and thats all i want to say. -------------------- --Axerax the Dragon Tamer-- Posts: 283 | Registered: Tuesday, September 17 2002 07:00 |

If theres going to be any music, then at least have 6 difrent battle themes, i would hate to have the same music repeat on and on everytime an outdoor battle begins, like many console RPG I know. Also, it sould be diffrent with bosses. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying."
