I, as usual, search for interesting topics with interesting answers, especially with BoA, The upcoming game.

But then I stopped and started to think. Why am I gonna download (and soon register) BoA?

The obvious answer to that is the BoA Editor. Some people talk about it and wants special things with the Editor.

So what ever happened to the actual game of BoA? I understand that BoA can read the scenarios of what you created from the Editor, but then what about the included scenarios?

What, exactly, is the question?

He wants to know what scenarios are going to be included.
The three that came with BoE (Valley of Dying Things, A Small Rebellion, and Za-Khazi Run) and one more (Bandit Busywork?) will be included.

The include3d scenarios would be the three from BoE (valley of dying things, a small rebellion and the za-kazi run), and one new one.
They aren't really all that great, but the reason that a player would buy BoA (as with BoE) would be to play 3rd party scenarios, which are, of course, limited by whatever limitations the editor has, which is why features of the editor are so important.

Edit: D'oh, ADoS beat me to it

Nobody really cares about the included scenarios. VoDT will be okay, ASR will be good, and ZKR will be bad. The new scenario will not be Bandit Busywork.

Haha, I think that was an advertisement. Anywho, I'm sure the 4th one will be entirly new, not a port of a particularly good 3rd party one from BOE. And yea again, the highlight of BOA won't be the included scenarioes, it'll be all the wonderful ones you can download! (Which Drakey is gunna host on his site, right? RIGHT?)

The major problem is that I didn't register BoA, so the game was pretty useless for me.

Actually, those scenarios will be hosted on Jeff's site. I definitely don't have that much space on my slice of the server.

Oops...didn't realized that. Thanks. I'm completely excited about BoA. Yes, I didn't registered BoE, so it was useless.

Why what? Why will ZKR be bad? Well if you haven't played the BOE version yet... it just isn't that great.

We already know what the included scenarios have to offer. Nobody will spend their time playing them besides to get a feel for BoA. Most people will jump straight to the editor.

All too true. Think of 'em as a tutorial for the greater challenges that await you in the land of 3rd party adventures.

Some people may play the new fourth scenario just to play another official Jeff Vogel product, and it can be helpful to have a scenario that you can walk around in and then poke at with the editor before you start from scratch.

—Alorael, who also suspects that the editor will be the main attraction. Even people who never complete a scenario (*cough*) will ecstatically try to create the coolest, hugest epic ever imagined.

Oh yea, well I wasn't talking about the 4th one. YES, definatly everyone will play through the new, 4th one. And yea, the editor is main attraction here.

The four included scenarios main value will be as coding examples.

Well, I'll end up playing all of them - having never played any of the Avernum games, it should help. :P

Never played the Avernum games? Why don't you just download the demos? They're free!

That's exactly what I did with BoE. When I saw the included editor (didn't know there was when I downloaded it), I completely skipped the game.

I know this. I just haven't had any particular reason to play them.

SoF, your point of view is flawed. So BoE isn't a stand-alone game; so what? Many scenarios exist for it that are better than most of the Exile series.

The same will likely go for BoA.

I'm surprised the lord above (JV) hasn't thought of this one.

Why not just release the game WITHOUT any added scenerios.

The game will be out in a fraction of the time, and the number of scenerios that will be completed in the time it would take to make the included ones would be ten-fold.

Or have a contest and release a second edition of BoA with the winning scenerios included.

You could call it, BoA Gold or something.

But then he might lose out on some sales which go to people who may think that the included scenarios are the main attraction and the scenario editor was just a bonus (although I'm not sure whether may of these people would exist).
Plus then there would be no way of having a demo.
