Misc. lasted about half a year after that incident, though. I think that's one thing that can't be blamed on the banner and its fallout. The number of self-proclaimed pointless topics probably had much more to do with the removal of Misc. —Alorael, who isn't quite sure he has his dates right. Misc. did disappear in early October of 2002, correct? Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

quote:I don't know the "lagot incident". In fact, I have a couple of SW-related questions: (1) Why is it a popular opinion among the community members that Linda should be fired and replaced with a juicer? (2) What is the "lagot incident"? 1) Atrocious handling of various Misc. fiascos, along with other incidents that led to the general opinion that she is a jerk. 2)I cannot find the lagot banner, but hey, maybe this one is just as good! -------------------- Dragyn Bob "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!"-The Divine Comedy Posts: 1481 | Registered: Thursday, September 27 2001 07:00 |

Don't we need GC2 before forum 6432766349448872395334773 ? Or GC2 could just be: 6 races are fighting and yours wins. Naturally. GAME OVER! RC, you are occasionally awesome. I've halfheartedly looked for that, but was unable to find it. Do you have Pope Giver II? I tried making a Pope Giver XVI, but was told I used the wrong Giver. Unfortunately, neither of those levels made it into the released version of Marathon 2. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! quote:Alec posted a message containing the lines "Welcome to Fagotville / POPULATION: YOU". The person thus welcomed was not amused and accused Alec of homophobia. Djur, a moderator at the time, replied with a dictionary.com definition of the word fagot (specifically, the one referring to a bundle of sticks bound together). The administration proceeded to ban both of them for vulgarity. To be honest, Alec may well have deserved the ban he got there, but the ban levied against Djur made a good chunk of the board's population quite upset with Linda. Is that the real original banner, RC? Wow... O_O It's not exactly the right form for a forum banner... it'd take too much space at the top of a board. Was the "TM & Scorp" signature the reason why both were demodded, although TM has maintained he had nothing to do with it? Oh, and normal members cannot change banners. The two who might or might not both be responsible were moderators, however. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. Well, I don't know if it's original or not, since I was not actually around at that time. But it was posted in a topic later on and it was claimed to be the banner that was put up. I guess the oddly shaped size of it would attract more attention to it opposed to a standard banner size - more scrolling involved obviously. -------------------- Austrian Alex Posts: 1307 | Registered: Tuesday, May 7 2002 07:00 |

With apologies to Alex: Inspiration didn't give me any text to go with that, so the bubbles are empty. Wouldn't it be an excellent idea if the most important historical events on SW (closing of Misc, lagot banner, etc) were retold in a cartoon? -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. What rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Ironycentral to be born? Icshi's fear of non-existent forums reminds me of the "Many Worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics, which postulates an enormous number of parallel universes. I find the MWI philosophically naive, myself. If you're really careful about its logic, you find that it doesn't actually achieve what it claims as its main success, namely the elimination of the quantum measurement postulate. I would find it unimpressive as a scientific hypothesis even if it did achieve its logical reduction, because it postulates such a record-breaking number of unobservable entities. Since in fact it fails, the MWI ranks high on my personal list of Bad Ideas. -------------------- We're not doing cool. We're doing pretty. You can prove that deep down inside a chicken isn't really a chicken. That's fairly self-evident without bringing quantum measurement into the picture, though. More importantly, you can prove that you have no idea what's inside a chicken past a certain point. It may already be exploded! —Alorael, who recalls the original banner being something else. It's been a while, though, and the banner didn't last all that long. Would anyone like to drop by Desp and ask for a ruling by TM and Scorp?
