No, I think Canada is better. With a few noteworthy and very vocal exceptions we speak their language. We very obviously do not speak both the languages of los Estados Unidos de Norteamerica.

America is already anschluss-crazy as it is. We don't need to try and anschluss someone else.

Los Estandos Unidos de Nortamerica is a good and moral idea. After all, if we're gonna be screwing 'em, they might as well be getting alimony for it.

There are actually 3 languages officially spoken in Canada, and we, for the most part, only speak one of them. :P

Knowledge of Canadian idiosyncracies is beneath most Americans.

Knowledge of anything is beneath most Americans apparently.

Case in point, today in English class my Professor said that we are going to read a paper by John Ashcroft. Then she asked if we knew who he was. I started to laugh, but was silenced when no body raised their hand. It was disgusting.

Just needed to vent.

That was a joke, right?
I understand that most students don't read news every day, but it's kind of hard to completely ignore a frequent name like that.

No not a joke. Some kid said "I've heard the name before."

I lost all hope for the future today. But I did get extra credit for being the only non-idiot. So it all evens out.

Um, I don't know of a John Ashcroft either. Unless you're talking about the ex-attorney general involved in the CIA scandal.

I betcha your classmates know (collectively) everything about every television show on between 7pm and 1am. Nothing can be more important than that.

That's Access Hollywood, Everybody Loves Raymond, 2 episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Shark, News at 11, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Becker, Judge Joe Brown, and Judge Judy.

At least, that's what TitanTV is telling me. :P

Aren't there news shows on at like, say, 8:00, 10:00, and 11:00?

God damn, people. I'm horrified to ask, Andraste, but what level of school are you in?

Also, about anti-Canada feelings: they don't really exist, but the more ignorant of our kind see no reason why we can't annex Canada and would probably consider any protestations on the same level as whining for the sake of whining. Apparently there are some people around the northern border region who envy their southern counterparts their somewhat more actual problem of illegal immigration and, apparently, the legitimacy of their overreaction.

Seriously, people? North American unity? Maybe?

Um... I'm drawing a blank here. English and French for the country and New Brunswick, and English for the other provinces (don't know about the territories, though). Some municipalities have more: my city's downtown has signs in English, French, and Cree.

Unless you mean Newfie. :P

Not on the WB. IMAGE(http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/654/squirtspl6.gif) That's where all the "teens" show is. Additional vomit.
And there is no news on the Cartoon Network. In case you were wondering.

And Sir David, it's a mostly Freshman English 102 class. I've been depressed since then.

Something tells me that emoticon isn't about vomiting.

I'm sure Canada has many other languages besides English and French, but I don't think they're official languages.

—Alorael, who certainly doesn't think any third language is as, ahem, vocal as French or English.

It's also incredibly fun to say.

Hee hee, Inuktitut. Inuktitut. Inuktitut. If you say it fast enough it sounds like a train.

My wife and I checked the Netflix records for the past 3 months. We've returned exactly 30 discs, evenly distributed. That means around 20 hours a month we've watched the tube. Having cut off Directv due to their predatory accounting techniques, I'm very willing to talk about the dreck available on television these days, just not so qualified anymore.

ps. I still <3 that pukericon.

You have no idea. I walked into a grocery store one day, and came out knowing several handfuls of words spread across probably six languages.
