If you could improve these boards, what would you do? I would probably make two changes. First, I would add a counter that would tell you if you had new private messages. There's a perfect space for it right under your name on the main page. This would make the PM system more efficient, and save members some time. Secondly, I would integrate the Today's Active Topics page into the main page. Just have a small little sub-page on the right-hand side that would show the current active topics, and when they were last posted in. EDIT: Make that three: an LOL graemlin. -X- would create the need for a vote among the Moderators and Administrators to permanently ban someone. The number of things to improve are endless. Anybody else notice the board just ate thread #3880? I saved page 1 and 3 but page two wasn't available to me. -------------------- "Even the worst Terror from Hell can be transformed to a testimony from Heaven!" - Rev. I would just move the boards to a more stable provider thing. This one just sucks. -------------------- You acquire an item: Radio Free Foil Posts: 1169 | Registered: Monday, September 23 2002 07:00 |

Very few people are banned out of irrational anger. Perfectly understandable anger is far more common. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Switch the boards to phpBB. These boards have a private messaging system? I didn't even know it existed. That's one of the innumerable reasons that UBB sucks. *sigh* -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Another warning sign is that, in a few places, you can clearly see that this forum runs on UBB classic. In other words, it's heavily out-dated. Posts: 2686 | Registered: Friday, September 8 2006 07:00 |

But if we did move, wouldn't all our post records be lost? Another spam fest! But at lest the boards would be able to handle it. -------------------- You acquire an item: Radio Free Foil Posts: 1169 | Registered: Monday, September 23 2002 07:00 |

If we did move, we wouldn't know whether the boards could handle it until we tested it's limits. Also, has the Spiderweb Software Forums always been located here? -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. To my knowledge, that doesn't help you when someone else initiates a PM with you. Also, I don't check my e-mail that often. -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. Posts: 2686 | Registered: Friday, September 8 2006 07:00 |

HTML code would be nice. I agree about the avatars and think images and graemlins should be allowed in signatures. If we ever were to move to a different board software, which is entirely doubtful, I really like InvisionProBoard. Edit: I never even knew the was an active topics page until i read this thread. I've been here a year, and I just now noticed it. How pathetic is that? :P [ Sunday, November 12, 2006 17:36: Message edited by: Tyranicus. ] -------------------- "Tyranicus is about the only one that still posts in the Nethergate Forum." —Randomizer Spiderweb Chat Room Shadow Vale - My site, home of the Spiderweb Chat Database, BoA Scenario Database, & the A1 Quest List, among other things. quote:Not necessarily, though preserving everything might take some work. For example, Ambrosia migrated from a somewhat customized UBB to IPB, and kept lots of previous posts and postcount. That might be more work (and expense, for IPB) than Jeff is interested in, though, since these seem to serve his purpose just fine. -------------------- Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and taste good with ketchup. Aran has a pretty good system for archiving the boards. It wouldn't take him too long to archive what hasn't already been done and I think he would be glad for the trouble if it meant no more UBB. -------------------- "Even the worst Terror from Hell can be transformed to a testimony from Heaven!" - Rev. We will know if Jeff waited too long to upgrade/move if the board crashes with Geneforge 4 questions. The thread eating is getting worse wothout any deliberate attempts to crash. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
