Is Sim Isle abandonware or is it still sold by Maxis? The main site doesn't even reveal the game exists and for the first time wikipedia has failed us on this topic.

Sim Isle?

Is it as fun as Sim City?

(I expect exactly nobody to get this joke)

Ash, if you're trying to make a "Sim Isle/Smile" pun-joke, it's so hamhanded that nobody's going to both get it AND laugh.

Anyway. If any of you want Sim Isle, just IM me. I think the game is crap, but I have it. (Although first, you might want to check Underdogs.)

I'm not sure what Wikipedia you used, but I had no problem. I also owned Sim Isle (or SimIsle, apparently) at one point, but it's long lost in the detritus of time.

—Alorael, who definitely does not consider Sim( )Isle as fun as Sim City. It's not even as much fun as really, really bad puns.

To be fair, nothing is as much fun as really, really bad puns.

A SimIsle/simile joke, actually. Pity they're not actually pronounced the same. :P

Wow. I understand SimIsle better from its Wikipedia article than from the game manual.

I think I still own it, but the likelyhood of me ever playing it again is slim, since I'd probably find SimAnt or the Streets of SimCity first and play one of those instead.

After all, Dikiyoba finds running for Dikiyoba's little ant life from a huge spider and narrowly avoiding collisons with trains a lot more fun than pushing buttons randomly and hoping that something good comes from it.

Ouch... Ouch. OUCH!!!

And SimIsle wasn't that bad. Not great, but not bad. SimEarth is still rather entertaining, like any game where sentient trichords are possible.

I don't remember trains in SimAnt…

The funny thing is that I was loking up all these games on Gamespot yesterday.
I never really liked SimIsle, but I do like SimEarth, SimAnt, SimCity and SimTower. I'll have to see if SimEarth works on my PC.

:Edit: Diki, I think you are thinking about hte lawnmower in SimAnt.

My experience with SimEarth left me with a burning question: what is a trichord? It looked like a three-armed sea star if I remember correctly. That's the tri, and I suppose possibly each one has a (noto)chord, but what are they based on?

—Alorael, who likes any game in which the time required for the animation of a nuclear explosion to complete is much longer than the time the radioactivity remains in the area. That's what happens when thousands and thousands of years fly by each second.

Dikiyoba said SimAnt and Streets of SimCity, didn't Dikiyoba? Dikiyoba meant for the spider and the trains to be separate.

I always liked Tropico better than Sim Isle.

Trilaterally symmetrical organisms, I believe. Their actual (past) existence is debatable.

What's even more interesting is the robots... they just get boring quickly. And I never could get carniferns to last very long... :(

Hm... I want to play this.

Could there possible be a SimIsle/Senile joke to be made?
