Yes. Of course, Mystery Man was an incompetent and ignorant member, having only many years of experience.

Hey, that happened to me too yesterday! Exactly what Kel said. That corrupt whatever. However, I tried my account on a school computer and now it works!

Hopefully it works at home. If necessary, bye for now.

Yes the same error happened to me. But I just left the site for a day, and today it works. Try yours again I don't see why it would be different.

I was once deleted too. It sucks (I was 2517). But your loss is worse; I had only had 58 posts at the time of my deletion.

Thank you for all your support. I'm trying hard to pull through it all. I think a fruit basket would be nice in this time of need.

And I'm assassinating the administrators of this message board because it is their job to make sure this doesn't happen. What kind of world would this be with UBB's running rampant, eating random members? Clearly, all of the administrators are incompetent and should be dealt with accordingly.

Oh, and about the custom title. I don't have my extremely low member number now, so I need something to distinguish myself from these... slime.

Sadly, it appears that the Spiderweb Forums run on a UBB system that has not been updated since the days of Misc, or around Fall 2002. You can see this by comparing the version number at the bottom of the page ("UBB.classicTM 6.3.1.1") with the version history, which says: "Version 6.3.1.1, August 14, 2002 - Version 6.3.1.2, November 14, 2002".

So we're running on software that will soon be three years old. Naturally there'll be some bugs, or they wouldn't have been updating it ten times, would they?

Well, of course someone might edit the database manually or something. But I've made it a policy not to assume things I don't understand are simple. ;)

Yes, it works!!! I'm so happy that I don't have to delete my account now. MM, I think you should try your own account a few times.

I did E-mail Spiderweb about this, and they sent me a .dat file which was unopenable to me, but maybe they fixed it for me. Who knows. If all else fails, tell Jeff.

Oh, and if I was MM, I'd want by Veteran status back. ;) I'm truly sorry for your loss, MM.

Ben, if you find some of MM's old posts they say “unregistered”, the account no longer exists. You were just logged out.

Ooh, yeah, I just checked on MM's old profile to see how many posts he had, but it was gone. Dead. Nonexisting. Now I'm starting to think getting his old account back would take a miracle. Do you remember how many posts you had, MM, because I was thinking you could type in some such thing in the location field of your new account:

long ago | post count += 1012

Not sure about the 1012; it seemed pretty close, though.

After the error happened, I shortly recieved a notification locating me that my password was no longer correct. :( I didn't have much choice in the matter. I was actually replying to a topic when it happened.

Sure sounds like sabotage to me.

Someone's got to find the roots of these things sometime before we get more victims than we already have. First Saunders, now MM; what is this forum coming to anyway?

I was never logged out, but was unable to go anywhere but the error message.

Ben - Loosing the post count is bad, but more posts can be made. He can't get back his menmber number (five), and is now number 5823.

Edit: Why is it that MM is now member 5823, and on the main page it says registered members 5814?

I feel sorry for your loss, Mystery Man. In the time I've been here, three accounts were devoured. It seems as if it's becoming more frequent (Saunders' old account was eaten not too long ago, and now this). Perhaps it's time to upgrade these boards and hope it stops.

On a side note: I have gotten my real moniker back just now! The day after MM's first account was eaten. Perhaps it's not a coincidence?

I suppose this means that so far 9 accounts have been deleted...

Yeah, post count isn't everything, but as MM said, he does currently look like just another newbie to unaware eyes.

Nine accounts deleted. It's just weird. Just weird.

Unlucky.

You're sure you didn't tinker with something unusual that might have caused this? Or was it just all in a day's work?

The issue is that UBB is an utter piece of crap, and this particular deployment has been picking up the effects of bugs for some time.

This is what happens when you rely on commercial, proprietary software.

If MM wasn't manually deleted he should have been when he made juvenile death threats. Any sympathy should be thrown out the window after that. The fact that someone asked him about it and he's unrepetent shows that he just doesn't get it.

DreamGuy, we were all very happy when you stopped posting. Why must you ruin it?
Whose accounts have been deleted? MM, Saunders, Drizzt, RoR, wz.arsenic, one of TGM's accounts (I think)... Who else?
