Lately, I've been playing this old pirate game, (aptly named Pirates!) from the late 1980's, made by the same guy who made Civ. -------------------- "Oh, North Wind, why frighten others? I was under the impression that petanque was exclusively for the French and really old people. And what's the drinking age in Finland? Doesn't it involve lots of alcohol? -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Vahnatai Did Do It desperance.net - We're Everywhere The Arena - God Will Sort The Dead ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! It depends, if you want to drink while playing.. :/ I've played it a couple of times, mainly in family parties, and in my family alcohol is often used, and way too much. And the age to get alcohol out of the stores is 18. -------------------- - The Great Mister Posts: 972 | Registered: Tuesday, October 28 2003 08:00 |

Hmm. Alcohol and petanque is probably not a very good combination. Unless of course, you rather dodge the spheres. Posts: 756 | Registered: Monday, August 4 2003 07:00 |

Petanque without alcohol is like boating without paddles. Q2 as in the second quarter of the year, not as in Quake 2. But I think he means a remake of Civ. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Oh. Well, they're probably going to jack up the price, or something retarded like that. There's already a freeware Pirates II, but it's got some shortfalls. Both 1 and 2 have advantages and disadvantages, but I like 1 because I'm more familiar with it, and I got it first. And I think I've even seen a more modern game with the same name and plot, out there somewhere. EDIT: (Assuming he's talking about my little obsession of the past few days.) EDITx2: (Which is also the reason that I haven't got Bracket 2 done yet, sorry.) PorkLoin <~~ another Petanque/Bocce player, and alcohol is great with both. Great amounts of alcohol is fantastic with both. Fantastic amounts of alcohol is sublime with both. Playstation? Xbox - best graphics of the 3 consoles - ? Gamecube? Bah -- give me the all-conquering PC! Playstation 3 is supposed to come out in 2005, but computer videocards and processors will continue to laugh at those comparitively sorry things hooked up to televisions. The Best Games, period, are Grand Theft Auto III and GTA III Vice City. Beyond those, Call of Duty, and, going back in time, Diablo II Lord of Destruction, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life. I played Geneforge 1 & 2 and Avernum. I also am playing Baldurs Gate right now. I should finish it pretty soon. I'm going to start Baldurs Gate 2. Lets see I play Backgammon on Pogo-- at the master level (no cheats.) If you want a good backgammon simulator-- to learn how to play pretty good get Jellyfish Backgammon -- a neural net backgammon program. -------------------- The Universe Never Did Make Sense; I Suspect It Was Built On A Government Contract- Robert Heinlein Posts: 1084 | Registered: Thursday, November 7 2002 08:00 |

TM does indeed have good taste! I borrowed Disgaea from a friend for a while (had to give it back before I had time to play much) - that's a funny game. Lots of references to RPG and action game cliches. FF Tactics in my opinion is the greatest game of all time. I wish they'd make another one with a story that deep. Tactics Advance just felt too "kiddy." -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1614 | Registered: Wednesday, January 23 2002 08:00 |

TM does have good taste, although I'm confused as to why his Final Fantasy list stops at 7. I really liked 9 and 10, and though a lot of people really hated 8, I thought it was pretty good overall. And 10-2 has hot, scantily clad babes throughout. What's not to like EDIT: And also, how can he list FF2 and leave off FF3? I thought 2 was crap and 3 was fairly enjoyable to play. Dunno. FF2 was indeed pretty darn bad. Anyway, maybe he just didn't get the chance to play FF8 or higher? Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I have become obsessed with Disciples 2: Rise of the Elves. All hail D2:ROTE! It will possess you too. D2 is,unfortunentally, a highly under -appriciated game. Besides that, a little bit of Dungeon Keeper 2 and Thief 1. What are these card games you all are talking about? And football. Am I the only one here that doesn't have a life?
