for the people who like the 100m sprints.

What would your speed be (in Kmp/h and mp/h) if you extrapolate your time over 100m?

I can't sprint, but I used to do the 800m in 2mins and 9 seconds.
I managed the 1500m in 5 mins and 3 seconds, but that was when I was young and healthy.

Running is fun! Just jogging through the woods some cool September morning! It beats even computer playing! Try it out!

Please don't punish me too harshly for this bold statement.

What do you mean by "extrapolated" sprint time? I have a vague mental image of you timing yourself for 10m then multiplying up.

I don't know about 100 M, but I do know that the fastest mile I've ever run was 9 minutes, 45 seconds, and that was when I was a bit younger, and probably a bit fitter. That's what flat feet, knock knees, and a paunch get you IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Extrapolated 100m (4_972chains or 109_4yards) spirnt times_files/biggrin.gif)

That's not bad for a five year old. In fact, his legs have to be moving about twice as fast as most of ours!

—Alorael, who hasn't timed himself while running any time recently. He could probably run 100m in less than a minute and more than a second.

My records:

Mile: 6:04
2 Mile: 13: 21
3.1 Mile: 22:15

As for my short distance times, I guess you could just interpolate. I'm more of a long-distance guy.

i'm the exact opposite to you i'm a sprinter not a long distance runner

drakey your extrapolated speed is about 30km/h i can't give an exact speed because i don't have an exact time

isn't he six??

extrapolated is when you predict what is going to happen if you kept going at the same rate over a longer period (in this it is longer distance and time).

Yes, but you can do better extrapolation if you start with two points on
the graph (otherwise it's just a simple multiplication).
If over 100 meters you can run 20 km/h and over a kilometer you can run 15 km/h,
it then follows (?) that over 1900 meters you run 10 km/h, over 2800 meters you
run 5 km/h, and you cannot run any distance over 3700 meters.

In other words, there are 1) lies, 2) ugly lies, and 3) statistics.

i know other ways like the one you suggested but the one i did was the first that came to mind
by the way, do you want to put in imperial measurements for the americans? or do I have to?

To convert your speed over 100m to a km/hour figure is misleading. Your figures imply that in one hour you could run 29.5km

yes but it is extrapolated though so it's not entirely correct and it can be the base of working mp/s

corrected for spelling

The last amount I've runned lately is the Cooper's test we had in school a month ago.. As you all know, it's twelve minutes, run, run, run. I got about 2800 meters. The third in my class.
But meh, those two ahead me are our hockey teams' stars.. IMAGE(Spiderweb Software Boards Extrapolated 100m (4_972chains or 109_4yards) spirnt times_files/tongue.gif)

I drive my car a mile a minute. It's a volvo, so it won't go much faster.

Depending on the Volvo, but you can usually get them up to at least 90. Most of them seem to have huge engines.
Hell, I drive a Micra with a 1-litre engine and she'll do over 100mph if you ask her nicely!

I am pleased to make contact with your entities. Now die.

The Dhabi be strange people, though there be few,
Listen to me well for I was one that knew.
Powerful as ally and deadly as foe,
Friends be empowered and enemies be woe.

Find him by the stones, warn you they might,
All noble gems he will turn plain white.
Be warned though, will there be more than one,
The stones will shine like the morning sun.

Strike him down, if that be your plan,
But best think him - a living dead man.
Dhabi can die, no doubt on that.
Kill him yourself - die like a rat.

Once assaulted, he will not forgive,
Howling in hate, vengence he won't leave.
Ever fighting, in lethal embrace,
Such are dangers, when Dhabi you face.

Want to kill him dead - you are welcome to try.
Find one of his kin, or it's you who will die.
Only Dhabi can kill Dhabi, none other.
Reaching out he'll take the soul of his brother.

I believe you are exaggerating greatly about those figures. If they are true you should probably go and have your runs officially timed. They come very close to record breaking.

They are record breaking. If he could average 45 kph over 100 metres he'd run 100 metres in 8 seconds flat.
