Help get Star Trek: Deep Space Nine back on the air! e-mail NBC at nbcshows@nbc.com and say that you think it will boost their ratings if they put it on durring what would usually be a "Paid Advertisment". Please! Help me in my quest! -------------------- -Sylak Posts: 319 | Registered: Tuesday, May 14 2002 07:00 |

The paid adverts are traditionally put in slots with low potential ratings; they make a fixed profit on paid adverts, while they make a profit on ratings shows on a curve. It wouldn't make them a profit, as no one watches TV that late at night unless they're looking for something, and with stuff as old as DS9, you're going to get a lot more oblique viewership -- e.g. people watching because there's nothing else on, or it's just before something they really want to catch -- than direct viewership. Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble. -------------------- In a word, gay. --Bob the Impaler Posts: 2367 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

Considering DS9 was syndicated, calling NBC won't help. Especially since most late night decisions are locale. I don't care since my locale stations show it. -------------------- I am not really here. Posts: 956 | Registered: Wednesday, January 16 2002 08:00 |

ST-DS9 wasn't that great. ST-NG & ST-V were better. Hell, even the origonal was much better than ST-DS9. Seriously, how much of the same trivial space station can you take before you get bored with it? Posts: 1918 | Registered: Sunday, October 13 2002 07:00 |

Go buy the videos of the series, each video has 2 ad-free episodes, or if you can find the cash for it, you can buy DVD sets of series 1, series 2, etc. Here in Australia the episodes (for every Trek series from TNG onwards) were available on video before they were shown on TV. The TV station with the rights to Star Trek runs science fiction shows in a late night slot (11pm), which is sometimes later (after midnight) as at that time of night the station doesn't care if programs run over time. Occasionally they don't put it on at all, replacing it with direct telecasts of sporting events such as Wimbledon or major cricket events from overseas. Yeah, go buy the video. Make it victimless, in the privacy of your own home. Posts: 2333 | Registered: Monday, January 7 2002 08:00 |

So, logicaly, since the past 6 series have bit the big one, they need to come out with a new one. The funny thing is, is that my family used to watch TNG religiously. every saturday at 6 pm. -------------------- Tip of the Day: #13 Stand clear the closing door. That's treason. TNG kicked ass. It's possibly among the top five best shows ever on television. I can never choose between it and DS9, but one of them are in there. Although I tend to laugh more while watching TNG than anything else. It's damn funny. Posts: 999 | Registered: Friday, June 27 2003 07:00 |

*actually watches an episode of Voyager* Uh, nevermind. I take what I said back. So re-adusting my arguements... TNG is the best Star Trek. DS9 is boring and Voyager sucks. Posts: 1918 | Registered: Sunday, October 13 2002 07:00 |

TNG was great. What do you all think of the movies for TNG (Generations, First Contact, Nemesis) and the new series, Enterpriese? -------------------- All your base are belong to us!!!! http://people.cornell.edu/pages/slp29/ayb.html Posts: 138 | Registered: Saturday, April 12 2003 07:00 |

Nemesis was off the main timeline, nad I've never seen Insurection. Enterprise sucks, unless the upcomming season leads to the Birth of the Federation. -------------------- -Sylak Posts: 319 | Registered: Tuesday, May 14 2002 07:00 |

Enterprise is too macho-eee. TNG was funnier and more intellectual. The moral dilemas and stuff were better. -------------------- All your base are belong to us!!!! http://people.cornell.edu/pages/slp29/ayb.html Posts: 138 | Registered: Saturday, April 12 2003 07:00 |

I love boiling these arguments down to who's the best captain, so come on, fire away. Md ticks the Jean-Luc Picard box with a stinking great big red marker. Md. Posts: 304 | Registered: Monday, October 1 2001 07:00 |

Enterprise is VERY disappointing as was Nemisis. It's clear that there is no direction in the franchise since Mr. Rodenberry's death. Since then, the whole thing has slowly deteriorated to where it's at now (a bomb at the box office and a nearly dead series). Posts: 8 | Registered: Sunday, August 3 2003 07:00 |

TNG had several Sherlock Holmes references, topped off with the appearence of Prof. Moriarty. With Sir Arthur Conan Doyle being one of my literary idols, my heart won't let me vote any other way. *Stamps the "Casey Jones Seal of Approval" on TNG Oh, and Voyager was a brimming bucket of rancid meat. I guess that made things easier. -------------------- Learn About The Man Behind the Messiah. Posts: 137 | Registered: Tuesday, July 22 2003 07:00 |

TNG was the best. Picard rocks. The ultimate captain. I was sorry to see that one go. -------------------- Instant Human-Just add liberal doses of Coffee. Posts: 87 | Registered: Sunday, March 10 2002 08:00 |
