Okay, a once in a lifetime (well, not really I suppose, but that description sounds neat) has comeith to ye; that is to say, I'm willign to create any single Player Character for mass consumption by the populace here, there, or anywhere where AV players are to be found. The reason for this? Wel, a friend of mine on another forum, is a graphic artist- and damn good one at that- who dose many designs in the same sort of style that AV character portraits are done in- I was talking to him, via PM on that forum, and I was askign what happend to his link to an art site called "elfwood", and commented that soem of his art thier woudl go very well as Char Portraits in this little game called Avernum- well one, thing led to another, and he has offered to do a custom portrait for me :D so, I figured that perhaps it woudl be best to leave the exact choice of what ismade up to the people who play AV- I have most of my own wants for char portiats taken care of, so I dont, necessarily, need to use this for any character concept of my own. so, gather one, gather all, from near or far, here or there- get every one you know who plays AV, and has ever wanted thier own unique character crewated to come here, and make a post. RULES 1)For starters, I belive I will be using a random number generator to choose which entry is chosen to be made -UNLESS- thier is an outcry for one particuler idea, in which it will win by default 2)if thier are less then 10 entires, I dont knwo if I will bother with this little random lot, and will just go for soem sort of frige idea I might come up with for a character- so it is to your benifit to tell everyone you know abotu this contest, and have them enter it 3)each person who enter may have ONE idea submitted by a post- if you have more then one idea, then you'll have to get a friend to submit it for you or somthing 4)you must clear, and offer a good descritpion, or even pictures or sketches from variosu other sources, at what you want your character to look like; you must specify sex of character, physical features, skin colour, what sprt of role your character has and what not, so that I can make a good in game graphic, and my friend, a good offical portrait. 5)I have not decided when the submissions will end- but no more then two weeks will be alloted to submissions, and likelly only one week, ending by next sunday 6)if your character is choosen, please dont expect them to be made in hurry- we do this of our charity, and good will, and for me at least, can only work on this when I both have the free time, and desire to work on it, which is somtimes fleeting, at best- so a full out character could take some substantial time to fully flesh out- but it will be worth it, in the end, when you have your dream graphic created :) Posts: 59 | Registered: Friday, December 24 2004 08:00 |

well, I have no idea how well I woudl do in such a competition, or how well i woudl do in makign walls- it coudl be that I end up sucking mightyll at it, give up, never to attempt walls again. then again, I could rule it. I go for names from claaasical sources- "lead character: names have been alogn the lines of ; -Odysseus -Achilles -Agamemnon *All from the Trojan War -Xenophon -Academus *two men of Athneian origin, Xenophon is perhaps the most awesoem character in classical greek history -Tiberius -Aurelian *Roman emperors, I dislike Tiberius, he a mediocre emperor, but was good for the provincials, and they loved him as emperor, and didnt rebel- he was a semi-insane pervert though, but hew has a kick-ass name **Aurelian is my current favorite, followed closelly by Xenophon, Aurelian is also a Roman emperors name, and this case, a truelly noble an dmighty leader of men. Indeed, i do- its slow going (very much so for the more ambitious projects) as far as full blown Player Characters go, a friend of mine desires a rogue to use, and I have found suitible inventory portrait art to make a fully rounded character; I've also foune othe rimperration for a very erika like "PC" along with some others, and, of course, I plan to eventully to remake this character to look more true to the portriat as far as NPCs go, I have soem work done- 1)a Goblin king, along with some other styles of Gonlins 2)an "Imperial Dervish"- that to say, a dervish but with a very Roman style flair to him, and one that dose not all that evil at all heres a preview of things to come; Posts: 59 | Registered: Friday, December 24 2004 08:00 |

Hope you all enjoy him, and put him to Good use; my oen name for this pet project of mine, is Aurelian, a fine late Roman name, meant to be somwhat symbolic of Imperial orgins- NOTE 1; the chairs are currentlly those used for Avernum 3; this will be changed in due time, but not necissarilly any time soon; the reason si because I wanted to play through AV3 with said character, so, I made him, and then I did it :) NOTE 2;these graphics are in PNG format, because that what i had to upload them as; you wil need to save them, open them up in a paint program, and change them to the needed format for either windows, or Mac- to that end I can olny help with installation, if help is needed, for the windows platform. hnady tip; when lookign for authenitc goods, try to find an Itallian good first, and foremost- Italy was th epreimire foundary for all europe, and while its quality os stell was not as good as Toledo in Spain, or Damasquus in SYria (two area that had steel production to such a fine art, that in all history, only th emodern steels surpass them) but Italy was the forefront for military, and artisitc development during th emiddle ages, and renaissance; it has the most beutiful arms and armours, as well as th emost effective designs.
