Seconded. I'd seen it as more a place to go read about Sucia Island, for example, than a place to find out which kind of sword was best to beat Monarch, or whatever.

Or you know, not. Seriously, the only issue I've had is with AOL, and that's no biggie, since AOL bites.

You might want to adjust the maps in light of my last IC. Sorry to make them outdated so soon.

I've sent letters to a dozen literary agents, and completed a manuscript of my book, AND started designing another BoA scenario the day after releasing another one.

I think I win so far. :P

P.S Pretty, pretty flag, Tully. :)

North of Pergies

Pyke lifted his hand to shield his eyes, and gazed across at the Isle of Bigail, which was faintly visible across the ocean. He turned back and watched as the land was cleared for farming. The crop would not be ready for months, at best, but it was important to look to the future, as well as worrying about the present.

To the south, the mountains that cut the south-western stretch of the continent in half jutted out from the otherwise plain landscape, cutting off the new colony from the four towns. For now this would just be a farming colony, but eventually, Gathin would want to make Delan a purely military town. And, if Pyke managed to oversee the building of New Sumar, he'd hopefully be rewarded with long-term custody of it...

Delan

In the few days since Gathin had arrived, the town had seen a frentic surge of activity. New wooden buildings sprung up around the crumbling stone walls of the old town, eventually to be turned into barracks and training halls. The town was ceaselessly patrolled by soldiers once again wearing the sun emblem of the Empire, and people felt safe. Not entirely, true, but enough to get on with their lives.

Gathin stood in front of his first captain, a tall, brutish man with a sharp mind: Unwin. Unwin nodded when it seemed needed, but really, this was cakewalking - bandits in Silvar. After fighting the Rakshasi army and surviving (winning wasn't a option, after all), a few thugs in a partially walled-off city hardly seemed worth bothering about. Gathin, however, seemed to think this was vitally important.

"And you're to use force only against these brigands, and only if there is no other way open to you. The idea is not to make enemies, rather, to gain support."

Unwin nodded again. He knew the drill - go to Silvar, shout a lot, scare the bandits off. Even in the years after the Fall, bandits were still only bandits.

Just west of Silvar

A force, maybe 40 strong and headed up by Captain Unwin, stopped just shy of the gates of Silvar. The city had grown from the small town that it once was, but it was nowhere near as large as Krizsan, which loomed to the south. Unwin stepped in front, and motioned to the few priests that had been spared for the mission to mingle in with the swordsmen and archers.

Then, with a jerk of his hand, he drew his sword and marched towards the gates...

OOC: Goldenking, I can write the encounter if you want, but I assumed you knew a lot more about these fellas than me...

How do you know the dialogue conversation is wrong??

I'll look at the barricade and the repeating text though.

And, as for the men in coats, I'll just tell them I only played it once, and expected it to stay the same as when I coded it.

Faction: The Phoenix Empire (Usually, they'll just be calling themselves 'The Empire').

Ideology: There exists two deeply held desires in the fledgling Empire. The first, held by the lower classes, is to just survive, really. The second, held by the army and the less poor, is to reunite the five continents under one banner.

History: Since the Fall, the 51st Regiment of HER IMPERIAL MAJESTY's ARMY moved from pillar to post, trying to maintain the order of the Empire. Then, during the Time of the Star, the unit was severly decimated. Now, it resides in the homeland of it's leader, establishing a base from which to re-take the old Empire.

Location: South-Western Valorim, centering on the four towns of Delan, Delis, Perrin and Pergies. Also the new town of New Sumar, on the northern coast of south-western Valorim, and the City of Silvar.

Capital: Delan.

Government: Military dictatorship.

Religion: None, officially. What people believe is unimportant, so long as the eventual embracing of a new Empire is not shirked.

Characters:

-Celsy Sarrin: Former leader/protector of the four towns, now currently somewhere in central Valorim.

-Imperial Dervish Victor Gathin, Third Order of Aizo.: Old Imperial. Currently in charge of the whole kaboodle.

-Caption Gustavo Pyke: Overseeing the colonisation of farmland to the north of Perrin.

-Captian Unwin: In Silvar, looking after the town until a proper force can be taken out there.

-Sister Clarice/Battle-Mage Brand: Diplomats. Going to Sanctuary/Dominion repsectively.

Relations with other factions: We know of the Hunters, the Thieves Guild, Sanctuary and the Dominion.

Summary:

#1 - Basic introduction, setting up faction and establishing a temporary leader.

#2 - Scouts are sent out to Krizsan, and the fields of Perrin burn. The fledgling faction now has no food.

#3 - The 51st are introduced, and make their way to Krizsan. Panic spreads through the four towns as news of the crop burning gets out.

#4 - The Phoenix Empire is born, after Dervish Gathin arrives in Delan. Some negotiations are made with the Hunters, who want the Empire to kill some bandits for trade.

#5 - The Empire march on Silvar.

#6 - The Empire take Silvar, and Gathin turns his mind to the rest of the continent.

#7 - The Hunters destroy the Bridge between them and the Empire, but the Empire secure a ford further along the river. Gathin begins plaaning further diplomacy.

#8 - The Empire reaches out to Sanctuary and The Dominion.

Nethergate is the best, but Exile 3 is good too. I think the one that best suits the game is Avernum 1.

That was the pit where the Faerie was trapped, right? Yeah, go for it. So long as it's got a fair amount of land for (runined) cropland, it's not super-important.

Krizsan

"How easy it had been to find out what these Hunters had wanted from me!" Gathin thought, as he bade farewell to Barleycorn, and mounted his horse. So there was banditry in the area - where wasn't there? And did these seemingly well organised Hunters really need a bunch of road-weary fighters? No matter. Silvar would be dealt with in due time, anyway, and that would help score brownie points.

Looking back at the rebuilt walls of Krizsan, Gathin smiled, and moved on towards his destination.

Delan

The flames of the torches licked ever closer to stone walls of the inn, threatening to engulf the soldiers inside. Today had been a bad day for Sarrin. Her scout from Krizsan had reported a sizeable number of Hunter troops in the area, but had not made contact ("That'll teach me for picking my worse man for the job", she thought). Perrin was effectively useless until next season, and, to top it all, a mob had descended upon her offices demanding action.

She really wasn't cut out for leading, she thought, as she wracked her brain for an answer.

The next morning

Derth Jenson approached Sarrin's office. He knocked on the door, loudly, his reports in hand. Nothing happened. He knocked again. Nothing. He paused for a moment, before entering. The room was empty. Looking around, his jaw dropped. She's deserted us, the coward!

He ran out of the room, and into the barracks.

* * *

Gathin reached the outskirts of Delan. The place had been partially rebuilt since the Time of The Star, but it was still in pretty bad shape. He dismounted and called two soldiers to him, eager to hear what had been happening since the kitties left.

An hour or so later, the banner of the Crown was flying at full mast above Delan's barracks, and Gathin had sent a rider to each of the three other towns, heralding the return of the Empire. Soon, he would turn his attention to the north and east.

Near Sharamik

Sarrin wandered on, almost in a daze, trying to find somewhere sheltered to spend the night.

----
FACTION NAME: The Order of The Crown/The Phoenix Empire (Usually just "The Empire").
Leader Name: Imperial Dervish Victor Gathin, Third Order of Aizo.
Description: As before, but now less concerned with preserving the Four Towns, and more interested in expansion to the north and east. Ultimate aim is to restore the Empire of old.

I'll change the name. I was pleased I'd come up with a decent sounding name from nothing, but it turns out I'm actually just getting better at stealing things without realising. :P

Dintiradan: Done.

Ephesos: Things have changed! I invented a whole new town!! :P

Addit: ET, love the map. I'm just imaginging that there are going to be a few more towns/cities in Valorim. I mean, for one, I invented a new town just in my little corner... What I'd suggest is adding towns/cities/cool bits onto the map later, so it always reflects the world.

Addit 2: I've just realised that Valorim looks a bit like a mashed up Great Britain. There's Ireland, the bit that sticks out (Devon/Cornwall), and a great big barrier chopping it off from another land (Scotland).

OOC: Almost done. Just this post, and then my faction's all but finished.

Delan

Things were moving quickly. Sarrin had only just recieved a report from her scout in Krizsan (Hunters!) when somebody rushed into the inn, gasping for breath.

"General, emergency in Perrin!", the soldier struggled to say. "Some nut has burned away half the crop!"

Sarrin blinked, once, twice, before standing, and drawing her sword. "Well? Bring the bastard to me!"

Pergies

Bad news travels fast, and an hour after Clint Hardwood had been executed in Perrin, the four towns were rife with panic. With most of the crop destroyed, there was no doubt that unless people did somethign drastic many would die. Talk turned to overthrowing the remnant Empire armies that had watched over the area, but that wouldn't accomplish anything.

Whispers travelled through the ranks of Sarrin's soldiers too. She just wasn't up for the job, and many considered leaving for the relative safety of a bigger city, Sharamik, Gale, a new continent altogether. That would mean deserting the people though, and many couldn't bear to do that.

The four towns were close to falling apart for the third time in recent years.

Somewhere East of Krizsan

The line of soldiers marched on, lead by a fully armoured man on horseback. They had been travelling for several days, starting out in Dawn, but finding that nobody really wanted an Imperial Dervish hanging around. To be fair, it was somewhat of an anachronism, but his old status should've meant something. It had been like this since the Fall, but Gathin had hoped that the memories of Rakshasi armies rampaging over the land would make people warm to the idea of one Empire again, even if it wasn't the corrupt, bloated Empire of yore.

Everywhere they had passed the story had been the same. Most people were keeping to themselves, and so it was decided that the tattered banner of the Crown that had been "liberated" from the ruins of Blackcrag Fortress all those years ago would go to the home of Gathin's fathers - Delan. Gathin had heard rumours that his sister was down there, that she had moved back home after her husband had been murdered during the Time of the Star.

And, even if she wasn't, he was tired of walking, and he was tired of being told "no". He would go to Perrin, to Delan, to Pergies, and he would unite the people there, before turning his attention outward, to Krizsan, and Sharamik, and Bigail.

The remnants of the 51st moved along the road west of Old Colchis, and made for Krizsan at full speed.
