And although I didn't know that when I made up the names, I did realize that "Solberg" was (if at all) a very uncommon first name, and more common as a last name. Which raises the question: Should we call the wizard Andrew Solberg now? -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Did-chat thentagoespyet jumund fori is jus, hat onlime gly nertan ne gethen Firyoubbit 'obio.' I am pretty sure all people who host my scenario have by now replaced the version that caused Kernighan to not have the message even though you'd explored the cave. Right? Right? If not: http://ermarian.net/downloads/blades/express-delivery . I think I've got it. A very likely origin for the first occurrence of "Kilser". And it's made up by me. Whoops. What does this mean? Close to four years ago, I made a Word document with a list of a few wizards. Being in a phase where, as far as Ermarian was concerned, improvisation was the same as research, I simply made up last names for the mages who didn't have them. Although I cannot currently find the place in the log where the document was started, I know that "Yonther" went with Linda. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how I came up with these names. Not even "Ezekiel", or why Solberg was the only wizard whose common name became his last name. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Did-chat thentagoespyet jumund fori is jus, hat onlime gly nertan ne gethen Firyoubbit 'obio.' That is the most useful, on-topic and accurate answer that has graced these boards in a while. Thanks. (Because nobody reads the EE talk pages anyhow.) Some of the Five (the archmagi of Avernum, whose actual number is disputed between 4 and 6) have surnames. At least two of them (Erika Redmark and Patrick Padraig) are definitely mentioned in game canon: quote:However, I have at least two more surnames somewhere in my notes (and one is prominently featured on EE). They're not game canon, and I don't even know where they come from. This is why I'm asking. The mages in question (who are the disputed members of the Five) are: - Aimee Kilser (featured on EE) - Linda Yonther (only in my notes) Has anyone else seen these names anywhere that doesn't reference EE, or did I make them up at some point? -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Did-chat thentagoespyet jumund fori is jus, hat onlime gly nertan ne gethen Firyoubbit 'obio.' To put it bluntly, it's none of your business. You are clearly not Nicothodes and your IP shows you are not even close to any known member of this forum. Explain why you need to know this or, well, don't ask questions about private data. If Nicothodes wants you to know, you can PM her yourself and ask. Or PM me to explain further, if you would like this thread to be re-opened. Otherwise, meh. The first question should have multiple choices. It's at least 2 of those to me, possibly all three. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Did-chat thentagoespyet jumund fori is jus, hat onlime gly nertan ne gethen Firyoubbit 'obio.' In that case, a simple order to do so from that commander might have sent the scenario up a place or two. There's nothing more frustrating than not knowing what to do next... ;) Anyway, rankings sent. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Posts: 8752 | Registered: Wednesday, May 14 2003 07:00 |

This thread is beginning to fray at the edges. If someone wishes to continue the discussion, they can start a new thread, but I'd rather close this while only page 2 is broken, rather than lose the entire thread. Rest in peace.
