Good, Evil, meh.

I will likely stray away from the use of such terms in any scenario I create, and focus on differences in perspectives...

Sure, you could think you're the good guy, joining the Highlord's mighty army to crush the savage rebels who seek to bring chaos and madness to the world, but the people on the business end of your sword will likely consider you a murderous tool of a power-hungry, bloody tyrant.

Hmm.... OR, you could be one of those aformentioned rebels, and think that you're fighting to establish a more just and good society... Hrmmm....

Mwee-heehee, so many ideas!!!

What are the sort of things BoA will let you do? in Blades of Avernum

I'm fascinated by the prospect of making my own widdle adventure, and I was wondering what kinds of things BoA might let someone do...

Y'know, will it be possible to create day/night cycles? How would one go about making new tiles and character graphics? Could stealth skills be somehow created, or would you need to carefully set up any 'sneaking into the mansion of the rich jerk' quests/missions to make it SEEM like you're sneaking around?(using special choice boxes and all) Would weather effects be programmable, or would I have to use pop-up message boxes for those, too? If day/night cycles can be made, can there be certain special events/wandering monsters that occur only at night?

Oh, yeah, and one more thing, it IS possible to have certain towns get hostile to you if a certain skill value is high enough, yeah? (I'm thinking mage/priest spells here, since I'm planning to have certain towns fearful of magic users or ruled by magic users who don't want competition.)

Or is it still much too early for me to be asking these questions?

I think someone asked a bit earlier if I could provide you with some of teh books I've already read, so here's the ones I can pull gfrom memory...

A wizard of Earthsea (That's the first one of the 3, right?)
The Hobbit + The 3 main LotR books (still haven't seen the the second movie though. blah.)
Animal Farm.
Lord of the Flies.
The first few chapters of 1984 (Gave up on it, will return when I can collect the willpower to properly read it.)
Romeo and Juliet.
Julius Caesar.
The first 4 books of the Hitchikers... etcetera.(there's more right?)
2 Dirk Gently's (there's only the 2 of them, isn't there?)
God Emperor of Dune

Uhm... that's all I can remember at this point. I think there's a few more.

To be honest, I've got a limited access to books. there're only 2 sources of them in town, the library, and the small bookstore in the mall run by the nice old lady.

I think I saw something in the Library titled 'Equal rites' That's by... ehm... Pratchett, right? Maybe I'll go look again.

Check out the DIARY, why doncha? It won't bite. Probably.

"We were heart companions,
We were companions in the woods,
We were fellows of the same bed,
Where we used to sleep the balmy sleep.
After mortal battles abroad,
In countries many and far distant,
Together we used to practice, and go
Through each forest, learning with Scathach".

Hm, yeah, good point, I ought to specify a bit. I think they yelled at me a bit about that the last time I did a 'recommend me books' post, back in the misc board.

::few moments of silence and thought for the dear departed board::

Well, then. Onward we go, toward the insane black nothingness that is the end of all.

Anyway, fiction or nonfiction is of little consequence to me. Strangeness, comedic elements, and enjoyment take precedent. Nothing heavy please, I've been reading Elie Wiesel(correct spelling? I'm rarely good with names), Shakespeare, and other oft-depressing material during the school year, and i'm sick of having to slop through discussions about morals and madness to get a proper understanding of what's going on in the stories.

Genre? Meh, fantasy, reality, scince-fiction or interesting and bizarre science-fact, very nearly anything goes.

Summer time has come once more, and with it, a period of approximately 2 months largely free from responsibility. It is during this time that I often choose to indulge in.... uhmm... reading.

I think I just used up my smart words.

So, um.

Yeah, recommend me books, please?

An AI, huh?

... hm...

"L- L- Look at you... Hacker. You cannot defeat a perfect, immortal machine..."

Maybe I play too many freaked-out video games...

Or maybe everyone else do not play enough!
