Noob question: why can't I make a Searing Artila?

Error message

I am playing Geneforge 1, and I just got my 3rd canister of Create Artila.

Now, Searing Artila appears on my creations list but it's greyed out. I have enough essence, so that's not the problem. Even if I absorb all my creations, it's still not an optoin. Is it a question of my shaping skill level? (it's a 2 right now)

I searched the forums and FAQ but so far haven't been able to figure it out.

You need at least shaping skill level 3 to create an artila, and possibly more to create a searing artila.

-X- wants you to lknow that you need to have trained three times in the Artila skill, or to have consumed three Artila Canisters. And you also need about 40 free essence.

He already said he got 3 canisters. Read. And you need 1 magic shaping to make an artila, I think you need 3 to make a searing artila.

Not in GF1. You only need one level to summon any creation in the game.

All right, Dikiyoba just checked. You need 1 level of Magic Shaping skill to create a regular artila and 3 levels of Magic Shaping skill in order to make a searing artila.

That certainly isn't true, whether you are talking about levels of Create X skills or the general Shaping skills.
