Does anyone know (if there's a topic about that just please redirect me, coz I didn't find it) if there's a possibility to alter something in the scripts folder of G2 so that you could control those pets you meet along the way? OR (possible spoilers????) Since the creatures that join you are controlled with the call ?_char_to_party(number) and the numbers are mixed (one character has over 20 I think), is there a way to artificially "join" some other character - for example Shanti or some other strong (or even weak) one? EDIT: Well, I'm allowed to edit scripts, right? [ Saturday, June 17, 2006 23:02: Message edited by: Anarhiztok ] -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Cool! Actually the question in the edit was just because I once read something about (regarding Spiderweb's games) backprogramming, reverseprogramming, or something like that, being illegal, and I kinda hoped that script-editing a game is not counted in this cathegory. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Well, most people here edit the scripts. If you are interested, this topic is an example. EDIT: But is for GF3. You could alter the creatures type, like the abandoned thahd in the Crags. But you may find that it still has some of the same limitations like fleeing when you take it into a town. You can always replace a creation with another one, but I don't know the exact spot in the files that you enter the info. I don't know what effect this will have on the other parts of your files. OK, thanks, I see ... Also I got the idea and tried it right now, "ordering" Shanti to join my party at the very beginning ... She joined me, but then she wasn't there when she was supposed to - although the game ran pretty smoothly and all ... You're right, I'll just drop it. Anyway my question originally was supposed to be just if you can somewhat give inteligence to these creatures (disable their AI? - at least it says it's always on ...), I just came up with the second part during the process of writing ... Thanks EDIT: Do you think it will screw up my previous save files, even though I didn't open them while the script was edited and is now back to it's former self??? I sure hope not - or I will learn it the hard way that too much editing can hurt ... Whew! I tested it a little and everything seems to be working well. Well, it also should, since I never even loaded the save before changing the scripts back again. quote:Good thing I always carry my safety helmet while on the internet :P PS: I still know and admit it was dumm to try it so hastily before thinking it through - IF ANYONE TRIES IT ALSO, I RECOMMEND A THOROUGH THOUGHT BEFORE DOING SO!!!!!! :D -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Well thanks - if I ever edit to the point of no return - which will happen eventually I fear, I'll know who to turn to :) But, for now, I was only worried if my saved games would become corrupted. But for that, the file itself in the data folder'd have to be changed (also the date), right?? (I hope so, coz it didn't change) :) -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Posts: 185 | Registered: Sunday, June 4 2006 07:00 |

I don't think the save games get corrupted with script-editing. -------------------- Download Geneforge 4: Rebellion You have 6 posts. Nobody cares what you think. - Thuryl Wikipedia may be your friend, but UBB is not. - Dikiyoba Posts: 1310 | Registered: Tuesday, December 20 2005 08:00 |

No, but if you did something using an edited script and then saved, you might need another edited script in order to get you out of it. For safety, I would recommend backing up the default scripts AND your save games to a safe location (such as a CD!) before you start messing about changing things in the script folder. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. OK!, thanks, I just rather recovered the not so much older zipped saved file to be sure. Now I ask this - I heard something about four creation type limit ... Is this really so, and do the joined creatures count?? And again, can I make anyone of them intelligent enough to control him, or something (Maybe turning off their AI ...)????? EDIT: And does anyone know if there's a money cap and how much it is (in G2)? The four creature type cap includes joined creatures. Haven't got up to a money limit, but all the games have one because of the memory limit. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Keep in mind though, that you can easily blow 30.000 coins in a spending spree. -------------------- Polaris The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. Yeah, I sorta figured it out that I had a hole in my pocket - I was reach, went to Tuldaric and ... Now I'm poor again. BTW: Wouldn't it be funny if the game was designed so that it would matter how much cash you have - snobs would look down on you (maybe not even trade), nice people'd give you free food and such, prices'd change when your monetary status'd change, ... :D [ Friday, June 23, 2006 06:02: Message edited by: Anarhiztok ] -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way!
