How I love to cast "simulacrum" spells in a row and leave the evil monsters to themselves. :D Don't mind me, just sharing something silly. Posts: 16 | Registered: Wednesday, July 14 2004 07:00 |

Use it on Morog for extra multiple personalities, plus, watch the good vs. evil personas fight! I wish capture soul was still around, with the Vahnatai crystal of course, but hey, to carry around Haakai, an Ur-Basilisk and anything else you so choose was quite awesome. Alas, it is no more. -------------------- Life is short. Use a Mac. Posts: 85 | Registered: Wednesday, July 14 2004 07:00 |

I used Simulacrum on the giants at the bridge south of the unicorns... fun! :) Are any creatures immune to Simulacrum? Because if not, boss battles suddenly become much, much easier. :P -------------------- Z: "I just feel so insignificant." Psych: "You ARE. The "Special" species (number 12) is immune to Simulacrum, according to the docs. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. If you aren't very good at Simulacrum and you're fighting a strong creature, it might be too strong to capture. -------------------- Do not underestimate the power of the mechanical pencil. quote:I haven't noticed that to be the case -- even with Simulacrum at level 1, my mage was happily creating copies of Khoth on the Za-Khazi run. I never tried using it on anything in DwtD, but I'd think that a dragon would be considered "strong." :) Posts: 4 | Registered: Friday, July 23 2004 07:00 |

Generally, high-level monsters are more difficult to capture. I don't know what's up with Khoth, I didn't expect him to be copy-able, but it's pretty easy. -------------------- Dragyn Bob "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!"-The Divine Comedy Posts: 1481 | Registered: Thursday, September 27 2001 07:00 |

Its probably to make the fight more winnable. I mean a few inexperienced adventureers would have little chance, but a few inexperienced adventurers and a few ancient dragons would do the job. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Well, I want to find some Unholy Wyrms, now those were a real challenge. Massive AP, darkness breath, and the elder brother to the dark wyrms. What was not to love? Edit. Yes Isaac, you are correct and I was mistaken, the Unholy wyrms did not have darkness breath, and yes, I was referring to A3. If you're referring to the Unholy Wurms at the bottom of the Pit of the Wurm (in Avernum 3), they did not have darkness breath. I beat them by going just close enough that one or two noticed me at a time... a tactic that Blades of Avernum scenario designers can prevent if they wish, by alerting all of them when any see the party. :) However, I haven't looked all around ZKR yet; perhaps you're referring to some Unholy Wurms there (which I don't know if they exist) that did have darkness breath. -------------------- Creator of the 3D Blades of Avernum Editor for Mac. Simulicrum helps me a lot vs. efreeti. Sure it can't hurt the real one, but it can absorb fireball attacks forever. It's not that useful against Khoth unless it randomly appears right next to him, since as far as I know he never moves. I thought he was much to easy because of that. If I tried fighting hand-to-hand I was dead first attack he got in. Posts: 5 | Registered: Sunday, August 1 2004 07:00 |

I didn't kill Khoth. I just lured his own golems into the same room. To protect himself he kept summoning granite golems, but they would appear in hostile mode. :) Took a while, but my singleton wouldn't have been able to kill him. -------------------- Take the Personality Test! Topic is a little old, but I wonder why Jeff didn't use 4 or 5 Granite Golems around Khoth and make sure that Khoth 'spawns' these Golems over and over before as they die. I think that would've solved the problem. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. I for one found Koth to be fairly easy killed...like was said earlier he only casts to golems at a time and he never moves i just cast cloud of blades on him and the 2 spots where the golems apeear and just sat back and had the rest of my guys tossing spears and shooting arrows and bolts even though i only had one good archer it was a semi long boring fight..heal here summon some shades and let them enter the cloud of blades who cares if a shade dies and i dont think he even lifted a claw to hurt my shades now that i think of it???? Khoth...what a disgrace, too much of a bookworm I guess. :D I remember the good'ol days when I killed my first dragon in Exile 1, now that was a fight! Motrax killed me more than once back then, now dragons are just an inmobile piece of vast HP . The Simulacrum spell is a mayor spoiler.
