Best game i've played yet. No, really. I think we should all worship it on a dialy basis and offer our body parts to it's greatness.

Thank you for reading another meaningless topic of alchohol induced spam.

I haven't played it, so I don't know what its all about. I just would like to point out, that I HATE the name Galactic core. Why not "chicken core", or "Filberto Petinato", or maybe, yes! That's it! Why not "Sombrero Cookie-pot"!

Is RW the official religion for the SW boards? If not maybe we should make it so.

Its the religion of some SW members, although I think we should push to have it the official religion.

If we made it a universal religion, it wouldn't be a "cult" anymore.

Cults are supposed to be secretive and highly exclusive. If everyone were a RW Cult member — well, what would be the fun in that?

Everyone can be a Richard Whitist, but not everyone can be part of the true cult. Think Chick Tract here. First we let them have a taste, and before they know it they're going to be sacrificing bytes at the full moon and feeding their firstborn to needle/ferrets.

—Alorael, who fed his bytes to a needle/ferret by mistaken. The needle/ferret was relatively gracious about it.

Actually, it's more of an exaggerated conspriacy then a religion. Call me a traitor to the cause if you wish. My relgionion is Christianity.

He is the only reason real cultists live. He is the only acceptable deity.

Maybe I need to rephrase. Is is possible to simultaneously be a Christian and a White Shock Troop? Or are the two even synonyms?

A White Shock Troop needs to believe in nothing other than the efficacy of personally-delivered nuclear weapons. No more, no less.

In other words you can believe whatever you like, so long as that warhead reaches its destination on time.

The White Cult's Shock Troop Department is very broad-minded.

So the White Cult is kinda like Scientology?

We make Scientology look rational!

We also make pi look rational.

[Edit: We obviate the need for punctuation.]

—Alorael, who makes e(-4)^(1/2)/(0 * ?) look rational.

A couple of months ago I read Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard by Russell Miller, which I highly recommend to everyone. It's downloadable as a free PDF:

http://www.holysmoke.org/cos/books/bare-faced-messiah.pdf

I feel obligated to point out, however, that the White Cult was created before I read this book — hitherto I was aware of the broader strokes of Hubbard's life and his cash-cow cult but hadn't yet examined the fine print, as it were.

It can be said in all fairness that Scientology is indeed the world's first science fiction-based religion. In which case, I suppose we can say that the White Cult is the world's first SF-computer-game-based religion. But the similarities end there.

In the White Cult no money changes hands. In the White Cult the number of divinely inspired prophets is anything but "1". In the White Cult nobody has to buy unwanted reprints of books nobody reads (or regrets reading if they do). In the White Cult our leader is something greater than a schizoid middle-aged fogey with delusions of literary grandeur.

And most importantly, in the White Cult we don't dress up little girls as miniskirted sailors and have them run around our private renovated cruise ships shouting profanities at the mindwiped sheep who are obsessively scrubbing the decks. For one thing, due to the whole "no money changes hands" part, nobody in the White Cult is rich enough to own a renovated cruise ship. Or even an unrenovated cruise ship.

Or even, dare I say it, a rusty motorboat.

We are not, strictly speaking, a cult based on a computer game. We are a cult of personality, or perhaps a cult of multiple personalities.

—Alorael, who is a cultist of discerning taste. He would not ride in a rusty motorboat or a cruise ship when he could have an organically grown fictional spacecraft instead!
